The underlying story suggests that she's legal. Specifically,
She said she last saw her sons before dawn on July 17, when she and her mother, Luisa Rayo, with whom she lives, flew to their native Nicaragua for a visit with relatives in Tipitapa, a town near Managua, the capital.... she learned of the killings and the hunt for her sons only when she returned Tuesday....
Note: she flew out of the county, and then presumably flew back into the country. And if so, she had to pass through customs -- which would indicate that she had proper legal documentation.
I would simply note that the resident FR bigotry has again raised its ugly head, presuming "illegal" apparently without basis other than personal bias.

Who can blame them? The media tries very hard to mislead about the legal/illegal status of people. They have an agenda and they push it, facts be damned.
Could she have been made legal in Reagan’s amnesty? I can’t off the top of my head remember the date of that.
