Whether or not one favors Hunter as the best candidate, his life stands out as one of service to his country.
Personally, I don't think it matters either way. I know this ticks off many DH supporters, but I do not automatically equate military service with either leadership ability nor with moral superiority.
Respectfully, Murtha served the country, and if you want to be technical, so did algore and kerry.
Service alone is not enough.
And as for being a lawyer, some of us on FR are lawyers.
We have to be SUPER on best behavior for this one because hopefully more candidates will do this. It will be invaluable for us to play nice.
Personally I would like to hear him say he will activly support a federal marriage amendment.
or will work on fixing the alternative minimum tax
or any other number of questions.
We will all be able to read his visit later and I am 100% certain opposition research will also be reading the thread.
so once more, we all need to play nice.
:-)
With that I can heartily agree. I haven't paid close attention to DH as a serious candidate for the presidency. If he started climbing in the polls, I'd give the man serious attention. He seems to be a great patriot, a strong conservative, and a pretty nice guy to top it off. And, even if those things weren't true? I'd like to believe that any candidate of either party could engage in a live thread on FR and be treated with respect.
