There isn’t a way to reply to something so vile.
Unbelievable! This is what they see as a positive message.
It’s absolutely disgusting.
I even went so far as to check Snopes. Ugh!
Yup, the cultural mavens at BET are playing it. Can’t believe they would play that foul a video at all.
This is even more racist than “Norbit.”
I can totally see the intent as good as well as to why they chose that particular way to get the message across. What surprises me, however, is the obvious use of black stereotypes and the overuse of the N* word. I’m surprised Sharpton and Russell Simmons haven’t put a stop to this.
If this is true...then the Africans of this country are troubled.
BET is institutional racism on the air.
BET would not survive but for the fact subscribers HAVE to pay for it.
I believe this video is SUPPOSED to be a parody of the old Saturday morning public service announcements which used to run between cartoons. It’s not meant to actually be viewed as a positive message.
Oh I had that same conversation with members of the Black Engineers Society when I was at Michigan State. Most agreed with the rationale that minority groups these days do more to polarize race relations than help. But, someone else said the reason that only white people can be racists is because white people are the ones with power. I don’t recall my reaction to that, but I know it was at the very least an eye roll.
OMG...unbelievable!!!
Wait a minute.
Rusty Humphries (sp) went on a rage about this the other day.
I hadn’t seen this at that time.
If the vid gets out it could bring a good message to the
“ youts “ in a laguage they understand.
read , don’t be a drunk , clean up your act.
Just what Bill Cosby has been saying for decades.
In a way, I don’t find this disturbing: this reveals that community for what it is....in the old days, the controlled monolithic media gave everyone the illusion we had the same culture....now, with this new media, anyone who thinks we share any sort of common culture is blind, deaf and dumb.....
laguage = language
plus it’s Beethoven’s fifth

The problem is that like most parody, there is an element of truth to it. While Bill Cosby wouldn’t have phrased it all that way, he’s been saying many of the same things for the past decade or so.
Next, we’ll have a southern rock parody video encouraging rednecks to buy at least one nice set of clothes (instead of new cammo), buy a family car (instead of putting $30k into their truck), and go to work even if you have money in the bank.
