Arafat's doctor: His blood had HIV, but poison killed him
12/08/2007
By Danny Rubinstein , Haaretz Correspondent
Late Palestinian Authority chairman Yasser Arafat's blood contained the deadly HIV virus, Arafat's personal physician told Jordanian media over the weekend. Dr. Ashraf al-Kurdi stressed, however, that Arafat did not die of AIDS - which is caused by the virus.
Jordanian news site Amman quoted al-Kurdi - a former Jordanian health ministry official - as saying that the virus had been injected into Arafat's bloodstream close to his death, and that the real cause of the chairman's death was poison.
Hours earlier, al-Kurdi was interviewed on television news station Al-Jazeera. However, the network cut short the live interview with al-Kurdi as soon as he mentioned that the former chairman had contracted HIV.
To Amman, al-Kurdi said that Arafat's death was suspicious in several other respects. "I would usually be summoned to attend to Arafat immediately, even when all he had was a simple cold," said al-Kurdi, who served as Arafat's personal physician for 18 years. "But when his medical situation was really deteriorating, they chose not to call me at all."
According to al-Kurdi, Arafat's wife, Suha, refused to allow the doctor to visit Arafat in the private Paris hospital where he was being treated. Al-Kurdi added that he was denied access to Arafat's body after his death. In the Amman interview, he demanded the French government set up a commission of inquiry.
However, al-Kurdi did not explain why he did not come forth sooner and reveal the information. On September 9, 2005, al-Kurdi told Haaretz that "any doctor would tell you that [Arafat's symptoms] are the symptoms of a poisoning."
Arafat was pronounced dead on November 11 at the age of 75. The exact cause of his illness is unknown.

If Arafat died of poison, it was because he bit himself in his sleep.
Let’s be honest. It wasn’t HIV. It was Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. I mean, who knew mad-sheep disease was an STD?
baaaaad..
I’m guessing arafat’s personal physician isn’t long for this world.
No it was food poisoning
Bad Wienie
(I know but its late and its my 4th margarita)
I thought it was drug related. Bad Crack.
Yes, the doc says Ari was injected poisoned etc and in the very next breath says he was totally without access to Arafat when he was dying and after he had died so we should believe him exactly why?
Given the very patriarchal character of Arab society, it is strange that Arafat's marriage produced only a daughter, no sons to carry on the struggle after his father's death. Of course if the marriage was a sham (as seems very likely) then there's no mystery.
“trophy” wife??? Not!!!!
LOL, no fault no doubt!!
I remember the piece by Fallaci where she noted Arafat’s young boy-toy hovering around during her interview of him, and she was very explicit that Arafat was a homosexual. She was more or less the only journalist in the world to report this open secret—another disgrace for the MSM.
any links? for my info, lazy me, Thx.
I think most of the inner circle of the PLO knew that he was dying of AIDS and the trip to Paris was the only way to avoid connecting all of the dots in this case. You can’t have a world leader...especially an Arab or Palestinian...come up to be a gay dude. That would mess up the entire appearance of leadership throughout the middle-east.
Lucky German heir. He’s 12 billion richer.
and goat bangers to be sure .
No wonder Klinton liked him so much .
And what was the connection that Arafat had with the Soviets?
sometimes I am so glad that I am nieve......
Maybe Arafat was poinsoned on purpose to hide the fact that he was actually dying of AIDs. Perhaps they knew that if he did die of AIDs the truth would get out before he died. Maybe that’s why his wife wouldn’t let the Doctors see him. This way his death was mysterious and he could die without the embarrassment.
So where is the tape?
the sick rumor
DING DING DING DING DING! You said the magic word and you win a hundred dollars.
We have an Israeli newspaper quoting a Jordanian newspaper quoting a former Jordanian health official who does not name his own sources. And while many folks are ready to accept al-Kurdi's assertion that he had HIV, they brush aside al-Jurdi's claim that he was deliberately poisoned.
The credibility of a claim is not based on how much it jibes with what you would like to believe.
