"1934 is now the hottest, and 3 others from the 1930's are in the top 10."

I was curious about an event I believed happened about this time. The dates coincide.

Surviving The Dust Bowl

"The drought hit first in the eastern part of the country in 1930. In 1931, it moved toward the west. By 1934 it had turned the Great Plains into a desert."

Rush stated a study yesterday, that said 5 out of the 6 hottest years on record were prior to WWII.
