Successful Surge Is Dems' Dilemma

Iraq: Democratic senators visiting Iraq have seen for themselves that President Bush's surge strategy is working. But their party has so much invested in losing this war, they're muffling the good news.

Interviewed from Iraq, Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin, the second-ranking Democrat in the Senate, last week admitted that our forces are "making real progress" there.

Durbin told CNN, "What we find is that the surge has troops going into areas where for 4 1/2 years we have not seen our military in action."

But back in January, delivering the Democratic response to the president's State of the Union address, Durbin called the proposed 20,000-plus new troops "too few to end this civil war in Iraq and too many American lives to risk on top of those we've already lost."

According to the Associated Press, freshman Sen. Robert Casey, D-Pa., who accompanied Durbin to Iraq, said in a conference call with reporters last week that a good argument could be made that U.S. troops have actually won the war in Iraq.

It’s not just the dems. There are some RP Republicans who fear success in Iraq as much as they fear anything.

When Petraus give his assessment in September we need to start an effort like the immigration bill. Bombard Congress with calls, faxes and letters in support of the surge to counter the MSM and the Dems negativism.

***Is has become a familiar refrain among Democrats that the Baghdad parliament is unable to solve the country’s deep-rooted ethnic-based political problems over a short period.***

Somebody please tell the Dems that it took from 1776 to 1789 for this country to become operative enough even to elect a president.

Yes, and if I come across one, I’m going to scuff him up a little. They have felt our heat on their fundraising calls and finally, they don’t call anymore, I’m grateful. Until they find some gonads, I don’t intend on supporting that party, I’ll work “behind the lines” such as what we’ve done since the surrender and treason of Congress and the Senate. I don’t vote or support cowards, surrender monkeys or traitors. I’ll support an individual but even those choices are slim to none so far...

I was referring to Ron Paul. You appear to be referring to the RNC. Your points are well taken. I stopped giving to the RNC rino’s years ago. I only give money to individual candidates.

There’s a light at the end of the Iraqi tunnel. For the Democrats, it’s an oncoming train.
