The fact that the state did not have to give in does not keep from
being blackmail.
Hmmm...
Hennepin County, where the bridge is located, recently passed
a new .15 percent sales tax solely to pay for Pohlad's new stadium.
Actually, in our market system, Pohland made a negotiation.
The deal was put before the voters of Hennepin County to give them
a chance to say "H-LL NO!!!".
Instead they voted for it, the tax and got to demonstrate where their
priorities lay.

Higher taxes rarely improve roads, since politicians will always be tempted to use money for projects that are more immediately politically advantageous.
There is NEVER money for roads, police, schools, or emergency responders. There is ALWAYS money for sports, beautification, impractical public transportation projects, ...
