I guess people noticed this article is a month old, and is about comments made at a Nashville town hall meeting a in early July.

Nonetheless, Jorge’s remarks (warnings) about a labor shortage, and the current talk about getting tough on employers using illegals sets alarm bells. Since I don’t believe a word Jorge or anyone in his administration says on this issue, this entire get tough talk might be nothing more than a cynical ruse to actually create a false labor shortage so they can say see, we were right all along, we must have more guest worker programs and amnesty.

I’m also counting the days until Jorge stands and watches a new president sworn in. And I’m not impressed with his war on terror which leaves our borders so wide open, the fight them over there so we won’t have to fight them here nonsense. One major terrorist incident committed by terrorists who crossed our southern border and Jorge will have his legacy.

....suggesting that failure to pass a guest-worker program could trigger a labor shortage in the United States.
::::::
Only because there are many more fast-food joints now than there were before Washington first allowed (amnesty) illegals to begin infesting the USA....how did we ever live without illegals roaming our country freely, on the taxpayer dole before???? (/sarc)

Exactly! I am so disappointed with W. I still support him as my President but he has let me down repeatedly on this whole immigration debacle.

His legacy has already been formed. A right, but poorly executed, war in Iraq along with his totally anti-American position on lawbreaking illegal invaders (against the Constitution) have cast his legacy in bronze. To say nothing of the damage done to the Repub party with thier flip-flopping complicity in the horror of amnesty....

His position of granting Amnesty (pathway to citizenship) of 20+ million illegals is simply indefensible. When these 20+ million drag their dependents over the border we’ll bankrupt every future generation of natural born US citizens from now until eternity.

A “temporary work permit”? Fine.

There is just no compelling reason to wave a magic wand and grant immunity and the mother of all benefits (pathway to citizenship) to these illegals.

I swear, if I owned a bakery, or some other small business, and President Bush wanted to drop in for a visit, I'd say either buy something or GET THE HELL OUT OF MY STORE!!!

The President of the United States takes an oath of office to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. That includes the laws enacted under that Constitution.

This man has REFUSED to enforce U.S. Immigration Laws, has collaborated with the Mexican government in undermining our southern border, is CURRENTLY withdrawing National Guard Units from the Mexican border - units he promised to keep there until adequate border guards were provided, and has PERSECUTED American border guards defending US from illegal invaders.

Those are “High Crimes and Misdemeanors” by ANY definition of the term. Need I say more?????

I regret ever having voted for that buffoon.

After all we did to save his political ass here on FR when we Freeped like crazy in our pajamas to overcome the 60 Minutes false reporting about his National Guard days, and again when we exposed the Swift Boat background of John Kerry, two things that directly contributed to his having a second term.

Talk about a lack of Give and Take, Mr. President, and your policy which amounts to urinating all over your previously loyal and dedicated POLITICAL BASE.

In know that but most of these items are labled "Chile," "Peru,", MEXICO!!! The few things that they label "Locally grown" are even higher.

I have searched out other stores even in not so convenient locations as well as driving further out to find "local truck farmer's goods" goods to purchase.

Said another way, “POWER BEFORE THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE and THE CONSTITUTION”. This, mixed with twisted globalist elitism, and an inherent affection for Mexicans, has cost the American citizen dearly. Illegals CONTINUE to stream across a FENCELESS border. And they will continue to do it -— because there is NO FENCE. And they will keep coming back because there is NO FENCE. And the token “enforcement” of our border laws will continue to be a FARSE, a RUSE, a LIVING LIE, and a major slap in the face of the American citizen who is being burdened with ALL OF IT against their will.

He can blame this on the Lyme's disease. I just don't like the SHamnesty proposal. Talk about selling America to the dogs. That was the worst proposal ever.

Bush's impeachment OR a new civil war are both more likely
than Bush and the Congress enforcing US Immigration laws.
