Someone in leadership must have said “We better stop balloting or we are going to end up endorsing a guy who can’t win.” I’m not a sour grapes kind of guy but this stinks BAD to me.
Care to guess how the NFRA endorsement came out in October 1999?... They failed to reach the 66% requirement that year also. If this year is no better than 1999 it means very little.

62.4% Steve Forbes
37.4% Pat Buchanan
And we know how these two came out .... Buchanan leaving the GOP and Forbes dropping out after the Delaware primary.....

  A grass-roots conservative Republican organization on Sunday failed to agree on which GOP presidential candidate it would endorse. The first National Federation of Republican Assemblies convention ended with a vote in which publisher Steve Forbes got 164 votes, or 62.4 percent, with Pat Buchanan getting 99 votes, or 37.6 percent. ANd to think they could have chosen that sterling prizefighter the RNC was pimping, Bob Dole. Oh wait, he got KO’d by Clinton 14 seconds into the 1st round.
