An anecdote: At a party about a year ago, I was talking to a guy who is a private pilot for high end clientel and has, on several occassions, flown Barry Bonds to and from events. He said that Bonds was even worse then he had heard. Called him an A-1 Ahole.

I agree with you 100%. I especially can't stand hollywood "stars". At least there's still some atheletes that treat people like people should be treated.

Wait, wait! How about play pickle in a concrete school yard with a kid that can’t catch for his life! That’ll get it all scuffed up real good, and then play home run derby in the intersection where the big kid hits it into that mean old lady’s yard with the collie dog that bites! She’ll put it in her basement with the five thousand other balls that she’s collected from the beighborhood kids who hit balls into her yard. It’ll sit there moldering in her damp basement for decades on a pile of assorted balls that have accumulated half way to the ceiling!

Why not call Bonds and congratulate him? After all, Hank Aaron himself congratulated Bonds...
I think Aaron gave “cover” to people who were not entirely comfortable congratulating Bonds...
My speculation is that Aaron probably feels that Bonds took steroids...But, he is choosing to keep that opinion to himself.

Because modern day politicos live for media attention and it gets them some more.
