Go A-Rod.
but Cansco is about to out A-Rod in his new book. I put my money on Rob Howard.
Bonds was the best all-around player in baseball back then...
No, Ken Griffey Jr. WAS the best all-around player in baseball back then (before his injury problems).
Go A-Rod indeed.
I knew it would never happen, but I think the best thing that could have happened would be for whomever caught the ball to throw it back on the field like they do in Wrigley Field. That would have been sweet justice.
I’m betting that Bonds holds the record for a lot shorter period than Aaron did, and that Rodriguez is the one who shatters it in about 7 years.
Baseball is in jeopardy of becoming about as real as the WWF. But heck lots of people watch “professional” wrestling. It’s just entertainment not an allegory for real life struggles. Of course in real life, nobody cheats.
Amen to that. I am definitely not a Yankees fan, although some of my heroes have been Yankees. I do respect players who achieve records in the course of trying to win games and pennants, Alex Rodriguez is such a player. Bonds AND the SF Giants put winning games and pennant pursuits second to achieving this record for the pure circus of it. Both are tainted by it, as is MLB and the parasite sports media for tolerating this fiasco.
I will cheer even louder each time he hits a home run from now on - unless it is against my beloved Angels of course!
