"learned from my own experience and my periodontist that dogs LOVE retainers "

LOL! My mother's partial dentures were stolen by her mutt (small dog -- dentures were high up on a table soaking). It wasn't funny at the time, however.

It’s not like the children were left with a sitter while the parents were away. Her parents were eating dinner outside with friends, with the view of the door to their room within their line of vision. It is somewhat possible that someone snuck in without them noticing.

I don’t know where/how you came up with that scenario, but it sure sounds plausible to me.

Bottom line - it sure seems like one or both of the parents iced the poor kid.

Plus they were able to charge every other patient the animal passed by for a cat scan.

So what else is new? It took the Portuguese decades to find the route to China.

The crimes committed against children - I am at a lost for words to describe it. Why? Why is there such a low disregard for life, especially toward children? Has it always been like this or are we just hearing about it more and more? Is it because we - as a people - shut God out of our lives? It breaks my heart to read about these crimes, especially the crimes that in hindsight are easily preventable.

“Unless, of course, they now think that the parents killed her accidentally or something, later removed the body and are trying to cover it up.” I think this is what the police have suspected all along. (I suspect it, to.)

“The girl lay dead in her bed for two hours before she was removed.” Where does this info come from? The parents claim the child was missing when they went back to the room. Have the police said they think she was dead for two hours before she was removed?

I don’t think we should beat up on the Portuguese police. The McCanns are highly intelligent, sympathetic crime victims. Perhaps the police were wise to move slowly (on the surface).

But didn’t those parents have to take lie detector tests at the git-go?

I wrote that posting about a month ago. As far as I remember the sniffer dogs figured the two hours out by the “rotteness” of the smell. BTW, the blood splatter on the wall later turned out to be not from Maddie.

As it looks now, mommy poisoned Maddie!

Paul Harvey reported that the cat was found dead a few weeks after the story came out.

No one knows how he died, but we all can guess!

under the circumstances, shouldn’t you say “smells fishy” instead of “looks fishy”?

If a two year old smells something funny, stinky, or unpleasant, (believe me, if you heve ever been where there is a lot of blood around, such a really bad car accident, you may not know what you are smelling, but you instinctively know you don't like it) they will usually pipe up and say something.

What I do not understand, as posited by some, is why the parent(s) would go berzerk on one twin and not on both? That does not make sense.

Leaving one twin in bed with the other a hacked or bashed corpse in the other does not make much sense, either, as it would really increase the chance the other child would discover the crime.

I know kids vary, but ours were pretty inquisitive at two, as have been all of the dozen grand children, and I expect the great-granddaughter to be as well (showing strong signs in that direction at 14 months). They are not dumb at that age and often surprise you with what they see and know, and just might notice something like the other child not breathing (an amazing number of little ones snore).

YMMV, but I think this is a punt on the part of local police which exonerates the community and blames the parents.

The missing daughter is older. The twins are a two year old boy and girl.

It was bedtime. I don’t think it would be at all hard to keep a two year old from noticing something unusual, especially since there were several rooms in the hotel suite, I believe.

Or drowned her in the tub, or smacked her so hard she hit her head...

The possibilities (Sadly() are endless.
