Well you see a lot of American & European weaponry too in such states.
Yup, the region is one of the prime areas for arms sales.
A lot of people take umbrage at the Russians and the Chicoms (and the French and Germans to a lesser extent) willingness to sell to states such as Syria, Venezuela, Libya, and the like, but the fact is that defense companies have to make money just like any other company. It’s only natural that countries want the best their money can buy, but often it comes with political constraints. Since these states can’t buy U.S. weapons, someone else is going to fill the void. And in some cases (definitely the minority), U.S. arms are inferior.
