It fell shy of an endorsement, to be sure, but former House Speaker Newt Gingrich lauded Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, saying those who think the New York senator cant run the White House are just wrong.

I have no problem with a competent, honorable woman becoming President. Hillary Clinton is at most semi-competent (don't forget her health care fiasco), and she's almost totally lacking in honor: no woman who, in order to secure her access to power, hangs on to a cheating husband like grim death, and leads the effort to discredit the women with whom her husband cheated, is honorable.
For its first female President, America deserves better than Hillary Rodham Clinton.

How can Newt be treated the way he was and have ANYTHING POSITIVE to say about ANY Democrat? Newt was toppled by a revolt among the most conservative House Republicans.
To: pissant
When he talked about the war, he meant we were unwilling to confront the entire problem. What is the name of the city that you are willing to give up just to continue your life such as it is?

Terry McAlffie(?) made the case for Clintons ‘fight’ against the vast right wing and Republicans, which simply means Clinton is going to package Socialism as an alternative to Capitolism. Oh, how formitable could it be?

If there's one thing we should have learned over the years, it's that you don't accept what's reported at face value. Yet many still do...why is that?
Newt gave a talk at the Press Club today, I'll bet it's available on C-Span. This is highly selective reporting, to put it politely.

Newt fancies himself a gadfly and behaves accordingly. We had one like him when I was in university. He was, unfortunately, in our group. He was extremely bright, but so abrasive and contrary and such an attention seeker that no one could really stand him. He was tolerated, but his ego was such that he never understood that, that is he never really understood or cared what anyone else thought. That’s Newt!!

They certainly did neuter him, probably by blackmail. Around the time of his resignation from Congress a column appeared in the New York Post by a man who had either been a congressman or a Republican staffer that recounted an informal conversation the column's author had with a DemonRat staffer who said the DemonRats had enough on Newt to neutralize him. In about June of 1995 Vanity Fair, a Clintonoid mouthpiece, ran a little blurb about Newt's extramarital affair. Not long thereafter the DNC started running its smear attacks on the Republican Congress. For no apparently understandable reason Newt never authorized any counter advertising, even though the RNC was financially "drinking from a fire hose," according to Haley Barbour, its then chairman. In short, Newt's damaged goods and we don't dare trust him with anything.

Among many republicans—I among them—hillary is considered to be unelectable. And, for example, a hillary — obama ticket —would be really unelectable...in fact it would be the dream team for republicans. ... ie the hispanics would vote majority for republicans.
the french for example despised the “conservative” chirac by the end of his term. His approval numbers were something like 10%. Yet they could not bring themselves to vote for a female socialist. Instead they voted for another conservative who ran against his own party.
If the french treat a female liberal candidate for president as vomit—there’s not much chance — the USA will treat a female liberal candidate for president any better.
That’s the way a lot of republicans think.
Newt is cautioning against such over confidence.

What he is doing is spitting right in the face of anyone near him. He believes himself to be above any need to be considerate or decent; his intellect buys him this privilege. He is absolutely of no benefit to the Republicans. None.

While I do not have a big pile of respect for Newt at all I will say he does know politics. We look at all the sniping the Dems are doing at one another and think we have a good chance in ‘08. The reality is republicans are alot more divided right now than ever before. ‘08 is gonna be close, real close. And I do believe Shrillery will be the one running. The main thing I am dreading is if she loses the Dems are going to sue in every state where they lost. Count on it.

My bet is that Gingrich is trying to WAKE up the stupid conservative vote as to how formidable Hillary Clintons Presidential run is and that the stupid conservative vote will continue to dismiss her as a loser to who?,Duncan Hunter,or Fred Thompson or Rudy Giuliani but dont bet the farm on it,or you might NOT have a farm in the future !!! Betcha nobody replying here heard him on C-Span yesterday. He made a Home Run speech with questions answered. This mans knowledge & ability far surpasses ANY other candidate running. You better believe that he is worried about this nations ability to fight these Muslims. The above about Hillary was worrying Newt because he knows how disastrous it would be.
