The Sunni ruling majority in Iraq were enemies with the Persians. Not the majority Shiites who now control. Democracy installs the majority.

They are enemies because they don’t share their religious beliefs. But that ignores that 2/3 of the Iraqis are Shiites, like Iran. As we’ve seen with al Sadr, a lot of the Iraqi Shiites have ancestry in Iran.
What did we expect?
