Not doing the "victory" burnout would have been smart. Going to the position NASCAR told him to go to for the re-start would have been a good idea. Not spinning out Ambrose after the re-start would have also been a good idea. And, he should have responded to being black flagged when it happened. Emotions, at least for me, often get in the way of smart, good ideas and "should haves".
He added a lot of excitement to a fun to watch race, but he isn't helping his situation with all of these justifications now. At least he didn't throw his helmet at Ambrose.
They wouldn’t bring ALMS to the track.
Hi ST thanks for your comments. The Jeff Gordon name came up from the interviewer not me. :) I would venture to guess they would have done the same to anyone at that point.
It will be impossible at this point to figure out which part of the track was yellow [part or all] and who spun whom. Actually Happy spun Pruett which started the big mess that brought out whatever yellow it was so deemed to be after the fact. lol
I was hoping for some “race talk” here on the thread. Thank you!
Hi Mac, thanks for your comments.
I agree he lost it. I wonder though just how difficult it is in the heat of the moment not to get really mad. Particularly for a one team owner who’s salivating at the thought of a win if even in the Busch race,
I haven’t checked yet to see if he has more penalties coming, but I imagine at least a monetary one after the confiscation of his drivers license at Pocono. I think they may let him run the Glen.
HI GBA thanks for your thoughts, don’t be afraid to post them.
LOL at him not throwing his helmet.
The whole mess IMO was aggravated by Nascar and their wishy washy rules of the day.
But, I agree it defnitely made for an exciting finish. :)
DEI wasn’t finalist for Busch
A letter of intent is not binding and Kyle Busch, 22, could change his mind. The driver’s finalists were Gibbs and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, sources said. Dale Earnhardt Inc. had been widely considered a favorite, but sources said during the past couple of weeks Busch had seriously considered joining Ganassi’s organization, which fields Dodges for Juan Pablo Montoya, David Stremme and Reed Sorenson. — Charlotte Observer
Ambrose to drive Cup car for Robby Gordon
Lee Spencer
FOXSports.com, Updated 2 hours ago
Robby Gordon will exact his revenge at Watkins Glen this weekend.
Not only will Gordon be racing the No. 7 Ford, the team owner will field a second car the No. 77 for Busch Series regular Marcos Ambrose, who he fiercely battled in the closing laps of the NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Saturday. "Marcos did a helluva job," Gordon said. "He led a lot of laps on Saturday. It will be great to have him as my teammate."
Ambrose, who drives the No. 59 Kingsford Ford for Wood Brothers/JTG Racing, qualified fifth and led the most laps before Gordon spun him out with two laps remaining in the event. The Australian Ambrose finished seventh and is currently eighth in the Busch Series point standings.
If he qualifies for the race, Sunday will mark the Nextel Cup debut for the 30-year-old Launceston, Tasmania native. Ambrose began his career in NASCAR with the Wood Brothers last season.
Now that's a headline I would never expect to see!
wow
Business is business!
A NASCAR spokesperson described Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s post-qualifying media session as possibly being the best NASCAR press conference ever.
Fully aware of Junior’s rep, Hamlin said to Junior before the postrace press conference, “you take too long let me go first, please.”
It wasn’t the only time Hamlin wanted to go somewhere before Junior.
“I think (Junior) was busy looking in his mirror,” Hamlin said of their race for second. “Every time I went high, he went high. Every time I went low, he went low.”
Said Junior, “Exactly.”

HA HA if this is true Red Bull to Chevy Gibbs to Toyota. OY!
Per Jayski
Red Bull VP/GM leaves; RBR to Chevy?: Citing irreconcilable differences in the team philosophy, Red Bull Racing and Marty Gaunt, formerly the teams vice president/general manager, have parted company effective immediately, the team announced Monday. The team, which is owned by Austria-based Red Bull energy drink founder Dietrich Mateschitz, has struggled in its first year in the Nextel Cup Series, with both its cars outside the top 35 in owner points and therefore not guaranteed starting spots in races. Red Bull Racing must concentrate nearly all efforts on qualifying, while maintaining a strong emphasis on building a solid foundation for a successful and enduring organization for the future, the team said in a statement issued Monday. Given the teams struggles in 2007, Red Bull has been rumored to be changing to Chevrolets next season, a scenario Gaunt and Toyotas Andy Graves denied last weekend at Pocono Raceway.(SPEEDtv.com)(8-7-2007)
Some of us always knew that... ;-)
I love it!!
That’s the best story I’ve found in a long time. :)
Ultimate way to thumb his nose at Nascar. lol
He see’s and recognizes talent when it’s running right behind or in front of him. Ambrose is a heck of a road racer. Now I bet the Busch race will have more attendance, all thanks to Robby Gordon. Good for him.
NASCAR has fined Robby Gordon, driver and owner of the No. 55 Ford in the Busch Series, $35,000 and placed him on probation until Dec. 31 for his actions at the end of last Saturday’s race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
Gordon was fined for actions detrimental to stock-car racing. NASCAR also said if there is another action by Gordon that is deemed by officials to detrimental to stock-car racing or to NASCAR, or is disruptive to the orderly conduct of an event during the remainder of the year, he will be suspended indefinitely from NASCAR.

Very Nice!
I wonder if Crash can control his emotions that long!
The bad part is the rest of the story...............
“The fine and probation also carried the stipulation that if, during the remaining NASCAR events in 2007, there is another action by Gordon that is deemed by NASCAR officials as detrimental to stock-car racing or to NASCAR, or is disruptive to the orderly conduct of an event, he will be suspended indefinitely from NASCAR.”
I suspect an anger management course is on the horizon.
And.....??
lol.
Robby needs to behave his little self the rest of the year, eh?
I hope people start giving Nascar tons of crap over their botched call at Montreal. That was just pitiful.
Dirty air LOL
Jr and Hamlin had a little tiff last week on the track at Indy.
The so called sportscasters have been pretty lame with all the interviews lately. Seems they all are trying to stir up controversy, like Nascar doesn't have enough without any help!
More pertinent info right here on the race thread and FAR better play by play when we're all contributing. ;)
