He looks like a loon, he behaves like a loon, he associates with loons, he comes across as a loon, he makes statements that are loony. What are people really suppose to conclude from that? I can however, imagine a situation where Paul might even be something needed for the country. It’s hard do do, but I have a vivid imagination. But the circumstances we face are very far removed from the needs of someone like he. Our needs are way beyond him.

As any political or military historian will tell you...you can lose the battle but still win the war.

In losing in 1964, Goldwater inspired a revolution of unapologetic right wing conservative principles that lead to the rise of an actor and future CA governor who was one of his ardent admirers and disciples who spoke on his behalf...

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is. Now, I can’t say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals. The strongest man on the block will run the neighborhood. We have government to insure that we don’t each one of us have to carry a club to defend ourselves. But again, I stand on my statement that I think that libertarianism and conservatism are travelling the same path".

Inside Ronald Reagan: A Reason Interview from July 1975

You are not exactly coming down off the mountain with the tablets with the idea that Ron Paul is NOT going to be the GOP nominee (sorry GW).

But the man inspires many young people out there to run for public office and defeat the neo-cons, Talibannies, left wing socialists and communists (an ideology that Democrats daily continue to imitate while ignoring the sacrifice that our brave men and women in the armed forces made in an effort to defeat during the Cold War.)

He doesn't have the charisma and leadership ability. But one of his disciples out there does. I don't know who or where he/she is, but they are reading and watching.

He's inspired me to run for public office. I will.

Look out for his disciples in the next generation.

***This is all predicated on his getting over 5% of the popular vote in the primaries. If he doesn't, then please strike everything I just wrote from the record.

OK, the Republican Party sucks big time, I know. And neocons, the RP is loaded for bear with them. Left wing socialists and communists infiltrating the Republican Party, that's an interesting take.

So Ron Paul will purge the Republican Party not only of the evil neocons, but the commies and socialists as well.

Outstanding

You learn something here every day.

I've typed the word "longshot" many times, using the term RP himself uses. But we should remember that, with God's favor, nothing is impossible. Admittedly, in a country so utterly debased by socialism as America has become in the last hundred years, it would probably require divine intervention.

My own record over 2 terms was a 7% (cumulative compounded) property tax cut over a six-county area, something that can never be reinstated due to state law.

And, no excuses. Just run. Favorite picks for novices: county commissioners/supervisors, village boards, school boards, education agencies, community college boards, these are all good picks in rural areas. And get some other conservatives to run with you or you'll end up as the accomplice of the the libs who are on all these boards. Start reading all the statutes on the books that regulate your target agency's spending and responsibilities. In most states (probably all), they produce statutory books of the relevant area of state law for board members, for instance, they have one in my state for education board members that applies to community college boards, school boards, education agency boards. Often, they're printed/distributed at the end of a fiscal year (typically August) and you can get a copy of the previous year's copy from a friendly board member if you just ask for it. A conservative going on a board needs the law far more than some clueless lib who'll just vote for anything.

File! No excuses.
