Almost ... I fear he will too easily be defeated because of Mormonism, but as a good man I would vote for him if he gets the nomination. I have my way to resolve this seeming paradox, but now is not the time nor here the place to discuss it. I oppose Mormonism, not Mormons.

That’s pretty convoluted, but I see what you’re saying.

“To turn the interview into a debate on who knows more about Mormonism showed a great deal of arrogance on the hosts part.”

I was proud of Mitt, the way he responded to the radio guy. Mitt has had it with the Mormon bashing which is a distraction from his campaigning. I wish Mitt would make a bold statement like JFK did condemning the bigotry.

Just to succumb to calling those questioning Mormonism ‘bigots’ is to play directly into the divisive trap the left has planned, Saundra. There is a subtle though not easily distinguished difference in Mormons and Mormon-ism.

“Mormonism is a C U L T and he is a CULT MEMBER in good standing, that is all America needs to know.”

Please stop repeating nonsense you have heard others spout. I don’t know what your definition of a “cult” is - perhaps it’s the same as Janet Reno’s and her definition lumped most Christians into a “cult” status.

Jesus Christ died for me to save me from my sins and I love Him with all my Heart. If that makes me a cult member, I am guilty as charged.

We are a peculiar people; I’ll grant you that.

Saundra, the poster has discernment, built in with the Spiritual gifts. Please tread lightly.

Mormonism is a C U L T and he is a CULT MEMBER in good standing, that is all America needs to know.

Unfounded assertions are easy to make and not worth the electrons they are made up of, if I offer the assertion that you are a cult member, it carries as much weight as what you have said here.

As a Mormon in good standing, I tell you in all honesty that you don't know what you are talking about, and that is all any lurker needs to know.

You forgot Gladys Knight - she’s a Mormon.

Say, today in Sunday School class, we were discussing what it means to be a “witness”. The discussion lead to Chapter 5 of the Book of Acts. Peter and the other Apostles - after being miraculously freed from prison - boldly told the Council of Pharisees they were murderers for crucifying Jesus Christ, the Son of God. “And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” The Council members were “furious” and wanted to kill Peter and the Apostles right there on the spot but this Pharisee named Gamaliel made the following observation: “And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it - lest you even be found to fight against God.”

In other words - to those anti-Mormon zealots here on FR: Please leave us Mormons alone for God’s sake. We have survived the test of time already. Jesus said, “For he who is not against us is on our side.”

I am on the side of Jesus Christ, the Head of my Church, my Savior, Redeemer, Lord and Counselor. Heavenly Father sent His only begotten Son to die for me to save me from my sins; the Holy Ghost is my witness.

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

We are a peculiar people; I will admit to that.

No kidding! Thanks.

Don't feel bad LukeSW, MHGinTN is one of our resident Religion Trolls, he will undoubtedly ping others to this thread, every mitt thread becomes a "Mormons Bad, they should all repent and the religion should die" referendum for these guys.

P.S. The causal relationship with the truth displayed in the post I am responding to will be repeated over and over, you can spend days refuting their "Stuff" and they will repeat it on the next thread thinking no one will realize it's been refuted before.

The really sad thing is they think they know more about Mormonism than Mormons do, how do I know? Some of the posters on this forum have told me I didn't know what I believed, but they do.

If it was not so sad, it'd be funny.

Our Government isn’t forcing them to accept sodomite leaders. They are a private organization and they can do whatever they want. But if the community says “If you want to use the public school resources, you have to follow community policy.” The Boy Scouts choose to not follow the community policy, therefore they refuse to use the community resources

A very disturbing defense, on your part, of an alleged community standard that would say "unless you allow people who are statistically more likely to molest boys serve as scout masters, you can't use public facilities." With the exception of Berkley, Santa Monica, and maybe Madison, Wisconsin, no community in America would take your position; it has been forced on them by dangerous policy wonks like you--who have no problem, apparently, with forcing century-old organizations to accept likely child molesters as youth leaders. I repeat: Leftists are far more dangerous than any religious organization in America.

Hey Saundra, nice to see you here, I always love to hear your testimony, thank you.

I do like the way mitt handles the questions, and the hidden camera is a "cheap shot" that tells us as much about the Host as it does about Mitt. Mitt is the same guy on camera as he is off camera. This is a nice change of pace from the Dems, don't you think?

P.S. before anyone says all Mormons are backing Mitt, Go Fred! (Fredipedia: The Definitive Fred Thompson Reference(

I am a Fred head, not because of religion, but because I believe he's a better man for the job. I just wish everyone was looking at it from that perspective.

P.S. It might be instructive for you consider how tolerant you would be of a Christian community that said, effectively, you can’t use this public school auditorium, (we all paid for with our taxes), unless you affirm the five points of Calvinism. You don’t see that, do you? Why? Because the Christian community is infinitely more tolerant of diversity than the militant homosexual community.

You also don’t understand the subtlety of the oppression. Open a wedding business and then say “on grounds of conscience, I won’t accept same-sex unions in my private facility.” You can either accede to a minority agenda or not be in business. That’s Stalinism wearing the dreary face of a policy-wonk.

What I'm sick of--frankly--are "conservatives" who compare the Judeo-Christian legal framework to the Taliban or to the toothless half-wits of Iranian Islam. That is a sweeping insult so shallow it deserves to be called what it is--idiocy...

Not to wage a flame war with Mormons but, seriously farmer18th, there are indeed a lot of similarities between the Prophet Mohammad and LDS founder Joseph Smith: Both had multiple wives (some as young as 13 and 14), both believed that an "angel" had given them the true account for a "true church" (as neither had much tolerance for other faiths). And each were persecuted by their respective neighbors, forcing a more zealous character and resulting, IMO, in a peculiar sect.

I'm not defending Mormon theology; I'm defending their version (post-polygamy) of an ordered society based more or less on Judeo-Christian morality, just as, say, congregationalism, and Calvinism, shaped and ordered New England. If a Jew runs for office, in other words, he should say, "I'm not going to tell you have to celebrate Passover, but I damn sure going to tell you government shouldn't make it easy for you to lie, to cheat on your wife, to steal; damn straight my faith informs my judgement on those issues."

As someone with extensive experience in the field of Biblical Studies, Systematic Theology and Pastoral Studies (click on “Jmouse007” for details) I stand by my original post.

No matter how you sugar coat it, try to cloud the issue at hand or try to cast dispersions upon my character; the doctrines, practices and beliefs of Mormonism, are in point of fact contrary to the doctrines, practices and faith clearly proclaimed by the Word of God and fit all of the hallmarks and criteria of a cult. The “jesus” of Mormonism is not the Jesus of the Bible. The “gospel of Mormonism is totally contrary to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Mormonism has never been recognized as anything other than a cult ever since it’s conception. (As to what makes up the criteria of a cult and apologetic information regarding Mormonism see: The Four Major Cults, by Anthony Hoekema; The Kingdom of the Cults, by Walter Martin (Author), Ravi Zacharias. These are just two out of a plethora of solid apologetic works available regarding Mormonism).

It does not matter, how many prominent people or politicians are Mormons; the reality is Mormonism is NOT biblical Christianity, it is a cult; it always has been and always will be.

Like I said: Mormonism is a C U L T, Mr. Romny is a CULT MEMBER in good standing, that is all America needs to know.
