Mitt Romney engaged in a heated discussion about his Mormon faith with a prominent Des Moines talk show host off the air on Thursday morning. The contentious back-and-forth between Romney and WHO's Jan Mickelson began on the air (video link courtesy Breitbart.tv) when the former governor appeared on the popular program that has become a regular stop for GOP presidential hopefuls. But the conversation spilled over to a commercial break and went on after the program ended, where a visibly annoyed Romney spoke in much greater detail about his church's doctrines than he is comfortable doing so in public.
The footage was captured by the station's in-studio camera and posted on its website. But Romney, who is careful to portray a sunny and upbeat public image, clearly did not know he was being recorded. The candidate reveals a private side that is at turns cutting, combative and sarcastic, but most of all agitated at being forced to defend what he and his church stand for.

Wasn’t talking about the posts, talking about the article.
“You are being bullied”
You can only be bullied if you allow yourself to be. I try to keep my posts and questions above board and even attempt to respond to rude people as nicely as possible.
I don’t always succeed.
“Maybe because he’s running for President of the US, not bishop of his Church.”
I bet even that cross-dresser from New York would be willing to talk about it’s religion as opposed to its pro-abortion stance.
And I bet Rudy would too.

There is no bigot like a "Christian" bigot. You need to grow up and learn some respect for your betters. hinckley buzzard, Post No. 150
Your vile attacks grow even more vile. If you are representative of the Christian faith, I'm not sure why we Mormons are so quick to defend our association with the term Christian. Post no. 92 by Spiff
This is the giant cow pie that the anti-Mormon bigots always hide behind when called on their constant bigotry in the Mitt Romney threads." "You're a throw back to the times when Mormon women were raped, children were beaten, and the men were killed by mobs." Post No. 94 by Spiff
I knew there were some number anti-Mormon religious bigots on this site, but I didnt realize that Free Republic apparently condones their behavior until this evening. I will have to rethink my commitment here. I do not want to be associated with anything like this. Post 118 by claudiustg
Im not sure that I can continue donating to a website that condones this kind of religious intolerance and harassment. Post No. 62 by Spiff
Calls by Spiff for censorship of the thread, suggestions that donations will be cut off, and of course the usual hateful name-calling.

“Why would one be agitated to comment on what his church stands for?”
Because there’s so much misinformation and ignorance running rampant out there when it comes to the LDS Church. (Duh.)
Jesus Christ is my Savior, Redeemer and personal Friend. I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am grateful to Heavenly Father for sending His Son to die for me to save me from my sins. The Holy Ghost tells me it’s true.
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I wish people would stop telling lies about my faith and my candidate.
Just think of it as a FRatwā. ;)
Wow! I watched the entire video and I have never been more proud of Mitt Romney. He made mincemeat out of that radio talk show guy. Mincemeat. It was creepy that they videotaped Mitt without his knowledge but the outcome is definitely PRO MITT.
Fabulous. Thanks for posting it even though your intention was apparently to put Mitt down. I suppose you think not too many people will actually take the time to watch the video.
Any fair minded person who watches the video in its entirety will see that Mitt Romney handled himself spectacularly. I am so proud.
Go, Mitt!!!
Catholics are cannibals, Baptists handle snakes, etc, etc, etc. All easily disproven.
On the other hand, the LDS funkiness is right there in your doctrine.
Smith established a religion which had as its base premise, that since the death of the last Apostle, ONLY through Mormon baptism or proxy baptism for the long dead can those who confess or confessed Jesus as Lord be Saved! Such a gross heresy must be opposed. That some cannot see it is heresy is telling of their lacking spiritual discernment.
And now we have a man running for President who believes these heresies. He is a family man, a clean man, unlike sinkEmperor, but he is no less lost to God's counsel. Should America embrace such a man because he is a clean man yet holds to gross heresies? In clinton's degeneracy we had clear indication that such a man should not be embraced, and we are still reaping the fruit of that man ruling this nation.
That is the question folks don't want to ask, Saundra, should we embrace a clean man who holds strong heresies as truth? And what will be the fruit we endure following such an man's rule? Sweetness and light do not issue from gross heresies, Saundra, despite how clean looking is Mitt the Mormon.
