SACRAMENTO Whoops. An attempt by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's staff to show grass-roots GOP support for his call for a quick passage of the state budget backfired this week when an administration e-mail chain was inadvertently shared with the media.
The e-mails revealed that a statement backing the governor released under the name of a Republican Party committee member was, for the most part, drafted not by the committee member but by the governor's office.
Some things the statement said about the Republican lawmakers who have been blocking the budget's passage for more than a month were not so nice.
"The Senate Republicans need to take a page from President Reagan's playbook and learn how to look like they're winning even when things might not be going their way," said the statement signed by Noel Knight, a member of the state GOP platform committee. "They need to remember it's always better to bend than to break."
The statement went on to praise the Republican governor's leadership and his promises to GOP lawmakers that he would use his line-item veto to cut hundreds of millions of dollars in spending ...
"So yes, kick, scream, and drag your heels, but in the end, compromise on a budget because California needs one and because it's the right thing to do," the statement said.
Knight sent the statement to the media. But he mistakenly attached a copy of his correspondence with the governor's associate deputy director of communications, which shows she wrote almost the whole thing.
By Friday evening, administration officials were backpedaling. Sort of.
"This was an overzealous employee sending an e-mail that should not have been sent," said Schwarzenegger communications director Adam Mendelsohn. "These suggested talking points were not cleared by the administration and they do not reflect the administration's position

Anyway, don't blame me, I voted for McClintock.
Just another disgusting Arnie twick.
I was rooting for McClintock too.
Touted as a conservative, with talking points like a conservative, this local clown rushed to lap at the feet of the Austrian when the chips were down in the Assembly vote.
Apparently, Villines is going to turn out to be 100% party with no core values other than political expediency. A Fresno area Kevin McCarthy.
I voted McClintock

As did one in every six Californians who bothered to vote in the 2003 Recall and every other voter who participated in the last general election.
Voting for McClintock makes one neither a hero or a martyr but rather a member of a vocal plurality.
Tell me again why they fired Davis and hired Arnold?
That is the question that some continue to ask to this day. (I think you’ve asked it more than once as I recall. ;-) )
Why the GOP would allow itself to be sabotaged so willingly is another one.
Yep !
Inadvertently? Yeah, right. And my flight to the moon leaves tonight.
Money.
Orange County wealth (the New Majority), ostensibly Republican, was frustrated. They had been unwillingly greasing Democrat wheels but still no lucrative business contracts were coming out of Sacramento because the green fringe had hijacked the CADEM.
The New Majority was receptive when the Wilson team approached them with the pearl represented by the Recall election. A chance to elect a Republican governor who would line their pockets from the public trough without the filter of the establish primary process which would out their popular, foreign impostor.
The New Majority then approached Sundheim with the scheme and Sundheim saw a chance for the CAGOP to remain relevant with the financial backing of the New Majority. Initially, Sundheim found resistance with the Central Committes but as the Wilsonegger Gang fronted their Trojan horse in the media, the stampede was on.
Follow the money.
Thanks for filling in the gaps. ;-)

That's pretty discouraging wouldn't you say?
If a politician will lie to get elected what basis do we have with which to select our representatives?
Can you imagine how much work it takes to study the past actions of a candidate to determine his suitability for public office?
If the electorate is forced to look beyond the image of a candidate and the few words presented each evening, can our democracy survive?

Double standards, anyone?

This same phrase was used against me by the local Democrat Incumbent County Supervisor and Whitewater Rafting King of the South fork of the American River who also saw to it that both Pete Wilson and Swortsnayger got free indoctrination trips down through the "eddy pools" just above Folsom Reservoir the minute they were elected!
Although all his militant GANG-GREEN friends were killing the timber industry in our county, he's be quoted in the local paper saying "Bend or break! Change or Die!" I was so pleased that these statements could be attributed to him because they helped get me elected and pretty much halted his budding political career!
His mom and Phil Angelides's mom were good Democrat buddies!!!
