Pauls active service member donations get noticed
By Klaus Marre
August 03, 2007
Rep. Ron Paul (Texas), the anti-Iraq war candidate for the Republican presidential nomination and darling of the Internet, said his colleagues have taken notice that he has raised more money from active service members than any other GOP White House hopeful.
"Lots of military people turned out to be aware that our campaign got more donations from soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines than any other," said Paul in a statement on his website. "Funny, that made a big impression in Congress too. Many of my colleagues were amazed and encouraged that you can be against this unconstitutional and disastrous war, and get military support."
While campaign spokesman Jesse Benton did not name names, he said that "two southern Republicans" recently approached Paul. They noted that his success in getting money from members of the active military is "turning some heads."
Paul said it is "an outrage that we are accused of not supporting the troops" and called it a "scam when the warmongers claim to be pro-soldier."
Despite his popularity on the Internet and a surprisingly strong second quarter fund-raising effort, which saw his campaign haul in $2.4 million, Paul is universally considered as a long shot candidate for the nomination.
However, he told supporters that he is "cautiously optimistic" about next weeks Iowa straw poll.
Paul also noted that he has received some good press about being frugal with his campaign contributions.
"I treat every donation with care, since it comes from a good American who shares our hope for the future, and who had to work hard to earn that money," Paul said.
Benton added that the prudence in spending is a sign of what is to come.
"The way he runs his campaign is a microcosm of how he would run the country," said Benton of his boss. He added that Paul would spend money where it needs to be spent but would otherwise be careful not to waste a penny.
RON PAUL supports the Troops...
Ron Paul is the RIGHT Candidate for National Defense and Foreign Affairs.
...And the Troops support RON PAUL!
It has been no surprise that the contributions from the US Navy, US Army, US Air Force, and US Veterans tends to favor the Republican Party but what might be a little surprising is that Congressman Ron Paul leads the pack overall with more contributions than even Senator John McCain:
Ron Paul is the US Military's #1 Choice
Right here, Big Talker:
Now either Shut Up, or else Ship Out.
Sign up for Iraq, Big Talker.
Shut Up, Sign Up, and Ship Out.
Otherwise, you're basically full of crap.
More Hits From the Ron Paul Experience! A delightful appearance on 9/11 Truther Alex Jones' wackadoo radio show.
Let's see:
1. He supports Dennis Kucinich's desire for a fresh, Truther-friendly investigation into the "cover up" of 9/11.
2. He goes on Truther radio shows.
3. He suggests, Trutherifically, that the US will phony up a fake attack by Iran on our troops (probably killing Americans, as we may have done on 9/11) in order to have a pretext to bomb the mullahs. So, you know, if Iran actually does fire on American warships, his supporters will know it's actually all a contrivance by the US government. (As was Iran's taking of British hostages, presumably. As was the Khobar Towers bombing, presumably.)
But he's not a Truther, oh no, and he's definitely not a conspiracy nutter or John Bircher crank. Nor is he some kind of Dogmatically Dopey Barroom Ideologue.
No, he's a Serious American Candidate with all sorts of Important Principles about Limited Constitutional Government and the Gold Standard and Suchlike Things.
Whatever. If I wanted a fruitcake candidate, I'd've supported Alan Freakin' Keyes in 2000 (or 1996, or 2002, or 2004, or any of the six thousand other times he's run haplessly for public office).
More! "Powerful banking interests" behind the creation of the American central banking system (which has no place Under Our Constitution (TM), by the way).
THIS is your candidate???
I can’t take it. Once the ultra DU style ‘serve or shut up’ stuff comes out, it’s all a joke.
“The British and the American people loudly declared their support for their leaders decision to attack Iraq. It is the duty of Muslims to confront, fight, and kill them.”
Osama bin Laden, December 26, 1998
“Oh sons of Arabs and the Arab Gulf, rebel against the foreigner . . . Take revenge for your dignity, holy places, security, interests, and exalted values.”
Saddam Hussein, January 5, 1999
Who's your pastor?
In this campaign in Iraq there has been Zero occasion when our military has lost a military engagement with the enemy. In fact, our military is winning the battle for Baghdad....just the same way as they have won the battle for Samarra, Fallujah, etc., etc. When it comes to military capability, an American 2-man team is more capable than dozens of the insurgents/terrorists.
We will WIN the Battle for Baghdad.
But, then we’ll have to turn it over to the Iraqis. Their army is getting more and more capable according to our own generals, so there is no problem with the Iraqi military capability of the individual privates, sergeants, and officers.
But, then you get to the political side. These warring factions are determined to continue tribal/doctrinal fighting. They want their side to come out on top. (Understandable in that world, since the loser loses his head.)
It is incredibly obvious to me that this country should have been 3 countries instead of one. We have WWI (and the Brits of that time?) to thank for their incredible ignorance about the aspirations of various people groups, when after that war in dismembering the German ally Ottoman Empire, they drew these “iraqi” borders.
The route ahead:
1. Finish winnng the War for Baghdad. Hand it over to the Iraqi gov’t.
2. Reposition our troops into Kurdistan, Baqubah, and along the borders of Syria, Turkey & Iran to prevent outside interference.
3. Prevent any outside intrusion into the affairs of Iraq.
4. Allow the Sunni Triangle forces to fight it out.
5. Annoint whatever gov’t with a pax vobiscum.
6. Talk sense to the Kurds and tell them to leave the flippin’ Turks and Persians alone or they’re on their own. Tell the new gov’t of Iraq that if it messes with us in any way, that they’ll lose their heads, too.
7. Go home.

How PROUD you must be!

LOL
This thread has more posts than Ron Paul has supporters.
Marty Marren; who’s yours??
OMG one you wade through the Ron Paul websites and get to the source you note that is is indexed by dollar amount. DOLLAR AMOUNT, not # of individuals.
We all know how rich the military is. [rolling eyes] “Self described military” that is.
Ok, no desire to actually read all of the FEC reports to ascertain if this is indeed true (because it is just Ron Paul groups claiming it).
Donating in someone’s name is illegal isn’t it?
I was thinking of a joint checking or credit card account.
And I have even more friends over there who want to get the job done, whatever it takes.
Their response:
Ron who?
The party donating has to note their name and occupation. If it is a spouse they cannot claim they are military, as they are not military.
Okay, so now you're posting "Stuff that other people have said about Ron Paul" as your argument against Ron Paul.
HELLO, Appeal to Authority, Popularity, Ridicule, and Bandwagon Logical Fallacies all wrapped into one! I guess I was correct in my estimation that you haven't even the faintest familiarity with the Science of Logic, whatsoever.
Well, I suppose I'll violate the wisdom of King Solomon's Proverbs, and answer a Fool according to his Folly: Let's see what National Review, the cornerstone magazine of the Conservative Movement since the 1950's, has to say about Ron Paul:
Nits aside, the broad outlook there is conservative in a way we dont often see from a presidential candidate. It is, in fact, conservatism of exceptional purity. Unlike the product in that automobile commercial, this is your fathers conservatism the Old-Time Religion. What is there among Ron Pauls policy prescriptions that the young William F. Buckley would have disagreed with?

RON PAUL. "Conservatism of Exceptional Purity".
This IS your Father's Oldsmobile.
Most active duty personnel do not donate to political campaigns.
We will see how they vote, which has always been historically for the strong national defense, foreign policy candidate. You know, the candidate who wants to spend money on them, not gut them and isolate the country.
Coming from the person who started this thread with an article followed by numerous links to "Stuff that other people have said about Ron Paul" is beyond caricature.
Your incompetence at this kind of thing is hilarious, but I feel like I'm kicking a cripple.
Man another Evil Knievel, making big leaps...
Those numbers do not define a plurality of anything invloving out military. Most including a large number of officers have not a clue that guy is in the running.
The TROOPS support RON PAUL.
......................................................
I wonder if the troops over there now, where asked to decide amongst themselves, whether to stay and win or retreat in defeat????
I happen to believe that staying and winning would be what they would call for... Perhaps I am wrong
His idiot supporters who, when someone RIGHTLY points out Paul's position on the war, calls him a supporter of terrorists.
