Talk doesn’t hurt, might even put some pressure on India and China.

Pressure to do what? Reduce greenhouse gases? Why? GREENHOUSE GASES ARE NOT A PROBLEM! Everyone should read the latest scientific literature. Greenhouse gas emission is normal - the vast majority of it being water vapor and CO2 produced by the ocean. The fraction produced by manmade causes is just that - a fraction - and current literature indicates that its impact as a precursor to global warming, vs. an effect, has been VASTLY overestimated in computer models.

One of the key premises of this idiotic conference is fundamentally flawed - i.e. that reducing greenhouse gas emissions (e.g. CO2) should be pursued. It should not, and as such this conference is a farce.

It’s August. It’s 85 degrees outside. The Red Sox have an 8 game lead over the Yankees. So what’s the problem?

Either that, or recognize that this is a strategic ploy. By refusing to be a part of any solution that doesn't include India and China, W is challenging the rest of the world to prove it is as concerned about the climate as it claims to be. Otherwise, Kyoto (and whatever follows) is rightly seen as little more than an economic cudgel to be wielded against the U.S. by those who resent us.

Settle down.

Pressure to do what? Pressure to live cleanly, to play fairly, and to follow the standards that the rest of the civilized world does.

Yes, the global warming hysteria is hokum. However, India and China are major polluters, and China, in particular, seems not to care a whit about safety or cleanliness of her methods or her exports. In a global economy, that affects me, so I care.

I didn’t say one thing about greenhouse gases, and I didn’t mean to put your panties in a wad.
