Michigan Wolverine jocks seem pretty slick at creating an alternative reality revolving around their team's football program. Note that nobody at Michigan denied the veracity of Coach Harbaugh's remarks.

With a little more practice at creating alternative reality and a few small monetary donations to the Republican Party, the Wolve jocks quoted above might qualify to be hired by the Bush Administration as special assistants to Karl Rove.

Actually it seems the football team area Dems.

Let's run it down shall we?

Are they able to be honest with the public?

No.

Are they able to be honest with themselves?

No.

Would they recognize a victory if it bit them on the ass?

No.

Do they recoil in horror at the truth?

Yes.

Do they call good news bad news?

Yes.

Then there's no doubt about it. They're ready for a mid-level Staff position working for Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi.

And seeing how they all already have those spiffy kneepads they'll be perfect as interns at the Clinton Library.

Harbaugh in May told the San Francisco Examiner that Michigan admitted athletes who were borderline academically, then steered them into less-challenging courses to keep them eligible.

That is not outrageous!

Puleeeze. It's not news that some jocks at big time programs take cake courses or majors. And it's hardly confined to Meechigan.

Go Blue!

Fill in the blanks regarding virtually any school and the statement would hold true:

Coach ________ told the ___________ that the University of __________ admitted athletes who were borderline academically, then steered them into less-challenging courses to keep them eligible.

Does it actually surprise or offend anybody that not all athletes are 4.0 material (and I do not mean their running times.

He is a Michigan Immortal....but his comments reflect the attitude of a lot of Div 1 schools, not just Michigan.

That’s the point, most of these guys are hardly there to do anything other than play sports. How many football players are engineering majors?

Are they able to be honest with the public?

No.

My point was that the Michigan athletes didn't even respond to the accusations made against their program, they just invented a bunch of ad hominem non-responses to them. Anybody who has ever attended a college with a big-time football program knows that players in football and other revenue producing sports get special treatment from the adminstration.

The Wolve jocks' boorish behavior clearly qualifies them to be members of the Bush administration. I've never heard of Harry Reid and/or Nancy Pelosi treating their critics with ad hominem remarks unresponsive to the issues.

Stanford does not. Thats why he made the comment. And also why they have a bad football team.

However, they excel in many other sports.

My alma matter, the University of California, recently relaxed the academic standards for football players have have been able to build a very good program. However, when I see some of the players interviewed on TV and how they express themselves, I cringe to think they are attending my university. Is that elitist? Yes!

Winning is nice but sometimes I wonder if it’s worth it.
