To: rhombus; new cruelty
The author of this story was not quoting Kerry. He was quoting us conservatives who have characterized this particular Kerry flipflop as the “I was for it, before I was against it” flipflop.

The confusion comes from the author’s mistake was putting “the war” into the quote. I think he probably did that to clarify that the flipflop was not about amnesty.

I think it’s a cheap shot - should not have used the quotes. It implied something that wasn’t... even though I hate standing up for Kerry here. Now I have to take a shower. :-)

So I heard back from Thomas Lifson, the editor of American Thinker. The editor contacted the author, Janet Levy who located the correct quote. The article has been edited by the editor. The other one? Down the memory hole. :-)
