When our son was about 6, we were told by the school that he had ADHD and should be on Ritalin. I told them to focus on teaching our son, advise us of any disciplinary problems, and stop trying to drug him. They didn't like it, but they had to lump it. He is now 14 and doing fine.

I submit to you that the attempt to lump boys and girls into a common behavior template is forcing normal "boy" behavior to be considered anti-social and in need of drugging. Combine that with parents who are too damned focused on their own selfish goals to spend the time being parents and leap at the chance for a magic pill to do their job for them, and you have a recipe for societal disaster.
