A Peruvian national in the U.S. illegally and who was previously charged with raping raping a five-year-old girl pleaded not guilty Friday in the execution-style slayings of three young college students... Fox News has learned that Carranza [aka Jose la Chira],who has a fake Social Security number, had been arrested on charges of raping a five-year-old girl and then threatening the child and her parents. In that case he faced a 31-count indictment. In another, he was arrested on assault charges stemming from a bar fight. Immigration officials apparently were aware of Carranza’s illegal status since his prior arrests, according to Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura.

The most mind-boggling statement in the article: “IMMIGRATION OFFICIALS WERE APPARENTLY AWARE OF CARRANZA’S ILLEGAL STATUS SINCE HIS PRIOR ARRESTS...” Three innocent people are dead and another critically wounded. Isn’t it time that we also hold those culpable who had full knowledge of the criminal monster who was at large, who was here illegally, had a criminal record, and was a guaranteed recidivist? At what point do we start holding those accountable who are complicit because of their negligence accountable? And I wonder if the citizens of Newark will rethink the sanctuary status of their city?

“NYPD Steps Up Security In Response To Unverified Dirty Bomb Threat”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “”Earlier this evening, the NYPD began taking several public precautionary measures visible to New Yorkers to guard against an unverified threat that was found on the Internet,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in a statement Friday night. “As New Yorkers, we have gone about our lives even with the daily threat level at ‘orange’ every day since September 11, 2001. That threat level has not changed because of this unverified threat, and we shouldn’t let anyone terrorize us by spreading fear.”
The New York Times reported early Monday morning that the NYPD had learned of the threat from an Israeli website, debka.com, which alleged that monitors had intercepted electronic chatter suggesting that al Qaeda was planning a radioactive truck attack on American targets that included New York, Los Angeles and Miami.
The website claimed the al Qaeda communications accused Americans of failing to take seriously a videotape released last week by American-born al Qaeda member Adam Gadahn, in which Gadahn vowed a new wave of attacks on Americans at home and abroad.
Gadahn, a native Californian, has been wanted by the FBI on treason charges since 2004. He claims he was behind a car bomb strike that killed an American diplomat last year in Pakistan.
Federal authorities said there was no evidence that New York City is in any danger.
“We are closely monitoring the situation,” said Homeland Security Department spokesman Russ Knocke. “There continues to be no credible information telling us that there’s a threat to the homeland at this time.””

Coalition targets senior al-Qaeda: 2 terrorists killed, 10 suspects detained
BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition Forces killed two terrorists and detained 10 suspected terrorists during operations Friday and Saturday targeting senior leaders of al-Qaeda in central and northern Iraq.
Coalition Forces conducted a precision operation in a rural area southwest of Balad Friday targeting associates of a senior leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq. Coalition Forces followed the suspected terrorists’ vehicle and attempted to get the driver to stop. The driver refused to comply with Coalition Forces, and appropriately escalated their level of force, firing on the vehicle to stop it. Both the driver and the passenger were killed in the operation.
Southeast of Hawija Saturday, Coalition Forces detained two suspected terrorists for their alleged ties to a local area emir of al-Qaeda in Iraq. Intelligence reports indicate this cell was attempting to establish a terrorist hub in the area, and is linked to the Jul. 16 suicide truck bombing that killed 80 Iraqis in Kirkuk.
During operations Friday in Baghdad, Coalition Forces captured an individual believed to be a senior member of al-Qaeda in Iraq who operates in the Yusufiyah area. A Saturday operation north of Tarmiyah netted six additional suspected terrorists allegedly tied to al-Qaeda in Iraq.
“Al-Qaeda in Iraq struggles while our operations continue to assault its leadership and rank-and-file,” said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson. “The Iraqi people have made it clear they do not want terrorism in their country.”

Gunmen shot dead a popular Somali radio journalist and talk show host outside his independent FM station on Saturday in an apparent assassination, colleagues said.
Mahad Ahmed Elmi’s broadcasts on Horn Afrik radio had upset both the government and Islamist insurgents. There was no indication as to who had killed him. Gunmen accosted Elmi as he neared the door of his office at 7.15am (0415 GMT), said colleagues who were with him. (AP)

Saudi Religious Police Arrest Man for Helping His Sick Neighbor

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA (ANS) — Members of Saudi Arabia’s controversial religious police have arrested a Nigerian man who converted to Islam for being alone with a woman he was not married to or related to. It happened after the African man helped the sick woman by taking her to hospital.
This was revealed in a story written by Patrick Goodenough, International Editor of www.CNSNews.com.
“The incident, reported in Saudi media, comes at a time when the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice is under unprecedented scrutiny over abuses committed while enforcing the kingdom’s strict Wahhabi interpretation of Islam,” said Goodenough in his story.
“Arab News reported that Ibrahim Mohammed Lawal, a Nigerian student of Islam in Riyadh, learned that his 63-year-old neighbor was in need of medical attention and took her to hospital.
“While checking on her condition several days later, he was arrested by members of the plain-clothed vice squad, known in Arabic as the muttawa or muttaween.”
The reports said the man, who had been in custody for “50 days and counting,” said all he wanted to do was to return to his home country.
His story went on to say, “The U.S. government considers Saudi Arabia a key Mideast ally, although the State Department’s scrutiny of the kingdom’s religious freedom practices — a requirement of the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act — raises serious concerns each year.
“The muttaween and its methods feature prominently in the department’s annual reports on international religious freedom. The sections on Saudi Arabia recount harassment, raids on private residence, and arrests for such “violations” as possessing non-Muslim literature, holding non-Muslim worship services, or promoting interpretations of Islam more moderate than that promoted by the kingdom’s government.
“In its most recent annual report, covering 2006, the State Department said there had been fewer reports of abuses than in previous years. It cited a government decision in 2006 to ‘put into place policies to limit harassment of religious practice and curb violations’ by members of the force.
“Abuses by muttaween members also have received more prominence in Saudi media, as a result of two recent deaths in detention court cases, and calls inside the country for reform are growing.
“Last week a court acquitted three members of the force charged in the death of a man who was in custody, accused of associating with a woman who was not a relative.”
Goodenough concluded his story by saying, “Arguably the most controversial incident involving the muttaween occurred in 2002, when 15 schoolgirls died in a fire after members of the force prevented them from fleeing their burning school, and interfered with rescue workers, because the girls were not dressed modestly enough.
“The case caused an outcry, but a subsequent government investigation cleared the muttaween.”
