A bit off topic but I had a High School history teacher with a close friend that served in 101st Airborne Division under Anthony McAuliffe. He contended that the term NUTS was made up, that the actual thing he said was more along the lines of FU or something equally as salty and that the term was “cleaned up” for public consumption.
But they don’t mean the same thing.
FU means you care very deeply.
NUTS means you don’t care at all.
