UK women 'least likely to care what men think'

Russian women are more worried about a man's seal of approval
Frank Sinatra advised in the song Wives and Lovers: "Don't send him off, with your hair still in curlers. You may not see him again."
However, it seems that British women couldn't care less after a survey showed they are the least likely to put effort into their appearance for the sake of men.
They have the lowest levels of concern in the world for what husbands, boyfriends and other male observers might think, with only 51 per cent caring whether men liked their appearance, the study said.
Japanese women were second bottom with 53 per cent followed by Americans at 56 per cent.
Indian, Spanish and Korean women were far more worried about having a man's seal of approval, but it was Russia which topped the poll of 10,000 women, with 77 per cent saying that they cared what their men thought.
Janet Saunders, of Clinique, the cosmetics company which commissioned the study, said: "British women like to feel confident and beautiful for their own pleasure and take pride in their outward appearance." Susan Quilliam, a relationship psychologist said: "It's a delicate balance. It's a positive thing in an equal relationship to reference the other person's tastes and preferences sometimes."
The survey also showed, that Britons are among the keenest on cosmetic surgery. Thirty five per cent of British women said they have gone, or are willing to go, under the knife for beauty.
Only Korean women were more likely to consider surgical enhancement, while just three per cent of Indian women condone it.
The survey also asked which of the 12 countries polled had the most beautiful women. Although most found their country's own women the best looking, Britons rated Italian and Indian women more beautiful than themselves.

“Not to beat down American women, but it wasnt until I visited Europe/ Australia that I realized most American women, at least late teens/20s are basically tomboys. They dress like guys (jeans, T shirt) and walk like guys. A sense of fashion and graceful movement is seriously lacking.”
You got that right. I like seeing feminine women, not a bunch of tomboys.

You mean the same commercials portraying women as know-it-all, nagging shrews? The commercials that pitch cleaning products to only to women? The ones that portray every woman as being on a diet? No.
The ones that portray women as the head of the house and the men too stupid to buy paint or to BBQ without blowing the place up. Where she tells him what to do and then smirks like he is an idiot. The ones where the she is a super woman because she can dust will watching two children while here husband is at work herding cats and earning all the money.
Those commercials. Also, as a woman you should be affronted by the fact that over the last few years the women in the commercials have gone from a size 4 to a 12 or 16. This is how they picture you true or not.
Finally, the tampon commercials where they have a woman doing karate kicks pointing her crotch at the camera, well those should be on YouTube in the pervert section not on TV.

“Just between you and I and this keyboard, those men mouthing such nastiness about American women likely couldnt get one. American women do have some standards and theyre usually pretty high.
Given a choice Id go with my belief that given a choice, most men on this planet would choose a pretty, happening American woman, including the Islamofacist kooks.”

This has proven to be an interesting exchange.
I think it's easy for someone to mistake a statement about culture as a personal attack. It's been asserted here that a large percentage of American women have subscribed to the feminist driven me me me culture. This does not mean that all white women from the west have, only that it's a trend in our culture which I don't think any reasonable person could deny. I've been to three weddings in the past three years, and in every case the guy getting married got married to a white woman, and they were all great catches. The fact that all three of them were also good Christian ladies probably had something to do with this. There are good ones and bad ones to be had in America.
This, however, does not detract from the fact that more and more American women are classless and noxious. The uncaring truth of the matter is that if a man picked a random female from America and then picked a random female from an Asian, South American, or Eastern European country, the odds are much higher that the American woman would be unmarriageable as opposed to the others.
Given the experiences of friends and acquaintances, it's also become self evident to me that sometimes a woman that seems great when you marry her turns out to be not so great at all. What this tells me is that good ladies are nearly impossible to sort from the bad ones.
So what's a guy to do?
Some have decided to choose women from a group that doesn't contain such a high concentration unmarriageable women. At first I thought guys who did this simply had some kind of Asian girl semi-fetish they were trying to satisfy. While there are some that undoubtedly are trying to do that, I had an experience myself that changed my view on that. I went to a friend's wedding a couple of weeks ago. At the reception, I had the pleasure of a dance with an enchanting young woman who was originally from Indonesia. The poise and lady like bearing she exuded was very different from the majority of the 20-something ladies I see on a day to day basis.
I don't think most men who have considered this course of action have anything against American women; they just find the bad ones extremely bad and simultaneously find it nearly impossible to sort the good ones from the bad ones. Given how the court system is heavily stacked against men, I can understand the logic and sense of their choice to search elsewhere for love makes, and I certainly don't condemn anyone for making that choice. I also don't condemn guys who choose a single life. In the context of our culture, it seems to make good sense when the risks a man has to assume (unreasonable, I might add, even for something like this) are so great.
Personally, I think the situation is sad. When things get to the point that ordinary men in America actually consider specifically not marrying an American woman, then you know that something has gone terribly wrong in our culture.

I've seen this @$$-crack thong photo dozens of times on FR, usually posted by some jerk who ought to stick to the porn-dog sites and not bring his garbage issues here on a political forum.
If you want to talk about American men and classlessness, how about porn? It's pretty much an American-guy thing.
Doesn't look like a "statement about culture" at all.

At least I can agree with that comment. But I don’t think we’re seeing the larger picture. Look at the increase in the gay male population since the 50’s. Viagra and Cialis commercials out the wazoo. Ultimately, you have to ask:
Exactly who decided women needed ‘equality’ and that being equal meant joining the workforce? Who decided in 1973 that women needed the ‘freedom to choose’ abortion or not choose it?
I think we all know the answer. The culture wasn’t broke and it didn’t need to be fixed. I’d like my pedestal back now, please, and let the menfolk be accountable...

Punchlines you may have missed: 15% of the men enjoy the sensation and 85% just like the quiet. Thanks a lot! I thunk and I thunk on that, and when it finally came to me, I spit coffee all over my terminal.... :)

Since you have such a thing against American women, I guess you’d have a problem with those of us who are 5’9” and 135 pounds... What disgusting pigs! Not that I care, I found my good American man to take care of me... *shrug*

who are 59 and 135 pounds... What disgusting pigs! You said "pigs", not I. 5'9'', 135, sounds about right, no? And it's not about the weight anyway. It's the culture, stupid!

Well said.

Exactly what I'm going through. Right now my only answer is to spend lots of time with them and talk about everything...including...what goals do you have for your marriage? Do you want to be the decision maker? Do you think tv shows like everyone loves raymond portray a good image of a wife?

You’re right, but it’s harming the cultural attractiveness of women IMO.
