UK women 'least likely to care what men think'

Russian women are more worried about a man's seal of approval

Frank Sinatra advised in the song Wives and Lovers: "Don't send him off, with your hair still in curlers. You may not see him again."

However, it seems that British women couldn't care less after a survey showed they are the least likely to put effort into their appearance for the sake of men.

They have the lowest levels of concern in the world for what husbands, boyfriends and other male observers might think, with only 51 per cent caring whether men liked their appearance, the study said.

Japanese women were second bottom with 53 per cent followed by Americans at 56 per cent.

Indian, Spanish and Korean women were far more worried about having a man's seal of approval, but it was Russia which topped the poll of 10,000 women, with 77 per cent saying that they cared what their men thought.

Janet Saunders, of Clinique, the cosmetics company which commissioned the study, said: "British women like to feel confident and beautiful for their own pleasure and take pride in their outward appearance." Susan Quilliam, a relationship psychologist said: "It's a delicate balance. It's a positive thing in an equal relationship to reference the other person's tastes and preferences sometimes."

The survey also showed, that Britons are among the keenest on cosmetic surgery. Thirty five per cent of British women said they have gone, or are willing to go, under the knife for beauty.

Only Korean women were more likely to consider surgical enhancement, while just three per cent of Indian women condone it.

The survey also asked which of the 12 countries polled had the most beautiful women. Although most found their country's own women the best looking, Britons rated Italian and Indian women more beautiful than themselves.

So we can’t talk about cultural trends?

Have you never seen one? Do you turn on the tv much? I don’t want to see that.

I love you!

And I’m so glad you pick up that resentment of womankind.

How about that day he declared, over the air waves and with such lust in his voice he scared me, that Valerie Plame was “a babe”.

Well that right there is his problem. Yes he thinks with those gonads between his legs and, hey, nothing wrong with that. But it’s in contrast to a fellow I think is so smart on all other matters of life.

Valerie Plame is a very pretty woman. She’s also vicious, vindictive, a liar and hardly any icon of conservative lust. Yet on the air was the king of conservative talk declaring Plame to be a “babe”, the huskiness of lust unmistakeable in his voice.

Of course Rush’s comment allows the lovely Joe Wilson, who we all love, to go out and tell the world how mighty Rush Limbaugh thinks his wife is a babe.

It didn’t endear his audience to him one bit, even those with gonads that too ached at the sight of lovely Valerie.

I really resent how conservative men take Rush’s feminazi funny business and use it as an excuse to me very, EXTREMELY, mean to women, even conservative ones.

The stories I could tell ....

“You don’t have to, our entire culture is based on female desires bent on destroying masculinity. Do you watch any commercials?”

You mean the same commercials portraying women as know-it-all, nagging shrews? The commercials that pitch cleaning products to only to women? The ones that portray every woman as being on a diet?

How about shutting off the tv and stepping out into reality once and a while? If you think “our entire culture is based on female desires bent on”...sorry, I’m laughing so hard at that absurd statement that I can’t type.

If a woman knows how to walk in heels it is an indication of a proper up bringing.

When my son was going to get Married my daughter in law sent out hand lettered thank you,'s after the shower.

When my daughter in law had a late term miscarriage she returned all of the gifts she received at her shower. Class Women.

This may shock you. I don’t care or spend any time thinking about your cycles.

I don’t know why he thinks I or any other gal has control over tacky TV commercials, or what relevance that has here, anyway. It’s bizarre.

I think that it’s much more delightfully civilized to quaff a cold brew or two in the late afternoon after working in the sun all day.

This VISION person is a perfect example, Mamzelle, of a normally nice conservative male who turns nuts in debates like this.

Next, they quote that Rush maxim to live by.

Give it time.

Something about the “unattractive”. Which you, Mamzelle, and I, certainly must be.

Newsflash.

This is a thread of cultural male/female relations and I’m talking about the culture.

re: This may shock you. I don’t care or spend any time thinking about your cycles.

You don't have what I'd call a linear thought process, anyway.

How this got turned into talk about feminine products on TV, I don't know. Maybe you should go back to bragging about how you don't have any problem attracting women.

My mom is English. Growing up the only vegetebles she made when we were growing up were tinned peas, tinned corn, tinned carrots, and brussel sprouts at Christmas.

LOL. Let's see. We're talking about the unattractiveness of American women. Who are so unladylike they don't have a problem with commercials about tampons with wings, or strings or blue water or whatever is the new trend. Class up.

Well, obviously, you can.

You can also throw in a comment about some stupid advertisement when you have no comment to add to a conversation. That’s a cheap, transparent trick used by people who can’t keep up; but you can do it.

You can also marry whomever you want, and I hope you find whatever makes you happy.

I’m truly happy that you recognize what you do NOT like, so that you’ll better be able to find what it is you want. Also, I wouldn’t want any valuable young American lady to fall in with someone who has so much contempt for her. That would not be fair.

Do you put down American women on FreeRepublic and peruse mail order bride websites in your free time? If not, then you aren’t who I’m referring to in my quoted post. I’m glad you have no problem attracting women. That’s great. Many men can’t and take it out on women as a whole.

I wonder if it's also going to turn into a PMS thing? I guess that's what's up with all the commercials for Female Problems.

Yeah, I can hear that "old, fat and ugly" thing coming...with "why don't you post a picture of yourself"---

I wonder sometimes if conservative men even know that conservative women vote. They take that "married women vote Republican like their husbands" a little too much for granted.
