"Here is a pot stirring piece of trivia, I served with a Special Forces soldier that earned his Green Beret tab in Vietnam with out attending the course....The OJT Special Forces soldiers status was verified by Sgt. Gordon Rottman and has been discussed already here at FR." There was a similar controversy over whether or not David Hackworth qualified for an OJT Ranger Tab from his duty in Korea (the requirements were somewhat obscure at the time). To his credit, Hackworth acknowledged that after a review of the requirements he did not qualify.
