Let’s hope Rummy takes a verbal chainsaw to these “arseclowns”...

Rumsfeld had nothing to do with it.

We should ask Waxman if he is personally responsible for every law enforcement bungle in LA. Same diff.

What Rumsfeld SHOULD say as he sits in front of them...

I sure have missed posting this.

Tillman literally RAN into the middle of a firefight.

Tragic and unfortunate.

Also a mistake for the higher ups to approve medals

that he did not deserve, no matter how compassionate it

may have seemed at the time.

The military has really tried to fix a lot of the integrity problems since they had the honor code violations and cover-ups in the 90's. They now require annual ethics training and it's hammered in at all the service schools. Unfortunately, when some people screw up this bad, they tend to lie to cover it up.

There are so many safeguards in place to prevent fratricide that it's very rare that an incident occurs unless someone fails to follow rules of engagement (i.e., make sure of the identity of your target before you shoot). Once an incident does happen, the ones responsible know that they're going to be punished for failing to follow the written orders.

I doubt that most of the senior officers had any first hand information about this shooting. They're getting hammered because they didn't have adequate safeguards in place or failed to aggressively pursue an investigation. I also think that if the victim had been Joe Bagadoughnuts and not Pat Tillman that no one would have cared that much about the cover up.

They’re getting “hammered” because they worked for the Bush administration.

Pat Tillman stood upright in a firefight, and screamed ‘Stop shooting, its Pat F’in Tillman!’ at which point he was shot by friendly fire.

I haven't followed this story as closely as I should.

Assuming this is true, which I do because I have no reason to doubt you . . . unless you're Superman, standing up in a firefight is abysmally stupid.

"Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., charged that unanswered questions surrounding Tillman's death reach into the highest ranks of the Pentagon and beyond."

He's lying, simply lying. This matter has been investigated about three times already, and the problem was with the field commanders, not the upper levels of the Pentagon or the White House.

I hope Rumsfeld will make the point that that this partisan ransacking of a dead man’s bones is disgraceful. Tilllman died an honorable man on a honorable field in the fog of battle. He met the fate that thousands have met before him in the violence and confusion of war. Now let him rest in peace honor his memory.

Congressional Democrats are nothing but ghouls. They feed off of dead bodies for strength, whether they are hapless Katrina victims or brave soldiers dying overseas. Ghouls.

Good point that the MSM will never raise.

No argument from me on any of your comments. I just know he made a mistake you rarely survive in combat. I don’t mean that in a disparaging way, just noting the facts as I’ve heard them recounted by those that were with him that fateful day.

I learned the brutal truth from an interview with a half dozen of his fellow soldiers that were with him on that day.

I guess they were expecting Rumsfeld to break down in tears and admit Pres Bush ordered him to have Tillman murdered. Geeze......

You are right, I’d better go turn it on and watch.......when Rummy gets going things get interesting. I’d love to see him take pot shots at Senators like he did at his pressers. A classy guy who takes no prisoners.

He might as well fire away...now that he's no longer SecDef (damn it), he's got nothing to lose.
