Back in the 80s there was “Spider†Dan Goodwin, who attempted to climb the Sears Tower here in Chicago. He developed these cool ratchet type climbers to utilize the tracks built into the side of the building for the automatic window washers. But he had a back up system, which he needed to utilize when the Chicago Police and Fire Departments removed some windows in his path. He exited the tracks and went to a suction cup system to move laterally along the building to another track. Eventually, and as God is my witness this happened, they shot water at the man, presumably to “discourage†him, as he clung there hundreds of feet up.
