Consider the healthcare fraud as a linked topic to illegal immigration and the population increases..no new medical schools are being built, doctor specialists were cut 25% in 2000 nationally, and their production has not been resumed, 25% of physicians are over the age of 55 and getting out as fast as they can..many specialists are paid no more than $45 an hour for their time from Medicare, we are hundreds of thousands of RNs short, I read, for the next 20 years,...NO plans for providing ‘healthcare providers’ (a culturally marxist term) is near adequate numbers is planned or is in fact achievable. A childrens health care coverage plan is being promoted..where are the PEDIATRICIANS? Millions of children are to be covered..they are hardly making pediatricians. THe fraud is that hospitals are struggling to survive the onslaught now, no new ones are coming on line...how is one to get service from either parties ‘new’ healthcare reforms...you will notice there is no info on the supply of proveiers ever discussed by the proponents of such plans. The Wisconsin Dem legislature has just passed the state healthplan reform to counter the Mitt Romney plan in his state..the Wis plan costs $3 billion more than the state takes in in taxes each year...delliberate financial insanity..eom

About 25% of all internships are provided to foreign doctors. The AMA keeps tight control over medical schools and the production of doctors. Still, our ability to bring in foreign doctors, including many Americans who could not get into US medical schools, will fill whatever gap there is. The problem is the distribution of these doctors geographically and specialties, especially surgeons. The increase in the percentage of women in US medical schools has resulted in fewer numbers of surgeons and more pedatricians for example.

The shortage of nurses will be handled similarly. We have special visas to import nurses. That said, we should be producing more of our own medical personnel.
