Health Care in a Socialized Nation

One of the biggest questions of the day is health care - why are people being denied this most basic human right, what to do about those who cannot afford it, why are so many uninsured in this greatest nation on Earth, why are costs skyrocketing, and not if, but when, should we turn over health care to our federal nanny. It makes for tragic reading; but, is that because we are in such a tragic state, or could it be because the easiest way to pull off the single greatest income and power grab by the federal government in our nation's history might require that we all buy into the tragedy, hook, line and sinker? With all things political aided and abetted by the media, I go with the latter, but let's see what we are being fed, and then ask some questions.

Excellent article on how the left is trying to define a "right" to health care.

I believe that during the Hillarycare fiasco, Bill Clinton’s advisers determined that ‘Universal Health care’ would cost an extra $500/month for every family in this country. I doubt it was the public outcry that sank Hillarycare. Bill probably realized that the Dems would be out of power forever if that tax was implemented.

You can bet your last dollar that Hillary, Reid, Pelosi, and the rest of the DC morons wouldn’t go anywhere near a health care facility run by the government. Only us unwashed masses would have to line up to suffer with that. DC political “Royalty” take care of themselves first; the rest of us can die from lack of care or inferior care. Call it Liberal dictatorship.

It is quite a testimony to the “brainwashing” of our society that universal healthcare (socialized medicine) is being touted by both Dems and Republicans (admittedly different versions, but nonetheless...).

"One of the biggest questions of the day is health care - why are people being denied this most basic human right,"

Health care isn't a HUMAN RIGHT. It never ever was. Nor is it a HUMAN RIGHT to STEAL MY MONEY to pay for ANYONE'S health problems.

The Democrats want to make All Americans into SLAVES, To take what we earn and spend it on what ever whim they dream up. I will pay for my own health care, thank you very much, and not for anyone else's unless I feel charitable.

Does anyone really want to be like Canadians and pay (based on a $60,000. yearly income) $20,000 a year for crappy health care where you have to wait 2 years for knee surgery, or to have a bad disk fixed, or die waiting for heart surgery?

NO!,br> NO!
NO!

We need to keep the pressure on Congress...no Universal Healthcare...we will not tolerate the loss of freedom and the increase in “tribute” to Caesar.

Agree. There is a meeting of the local Democrat club in my town to discuss the ‘New California Health Care Plan’ that will be implemented soon. It hasn’t even been voted on in Sacramento yet but the Dems are sure it will pass. Arnold is supportive. (But then Arnold was never really a Republican anyway!)

You can be sure there will be a chain of “National Defense Hospitals” or something like that, where Congressthings and their retainers will be first in line.

Doesn’t mater, Hitlery will push her socialist agenda through despite all arguments? Please folks, she is first a socialist, second a democrat (as it there were a difference), third a human being and that is questionable.

If she wins and the dumycrats retain even their slim margin in the congress and senate … Socialism “are” our middle name.

Canadian Liberal Politicians were caught going to the USA or paying for private care, or jumping the cue (waiting list) Athletes never use the Canadian health care system either, nor does anyone who wants immediate care and doesn't mind paying for it in the USA. It's a 3rd rate system, and that's if you are lucky enough to live in a major Canadian city. If you live in a small Canadian town or romote area, "free health care' doesn't really exist. many of those places can't even find a doctor willing to work in such a place for peanuts.

It seems to be the trend with recently elected Republican governors. Governor Crist (Florida) just signed an Executive Order with some of the most stringent emission standards yet. Never mind we have rising property taxes, rising homeowner’s insurance (even though we’ve had two special legislative sessions, besides the regular session with a third to soon follow with limited relief), but now we will have boutique fuels, and higher costing vehicles...

I went to a series of meetings in Boston about Hillarycare, before it collapsed, along similar lines.

As soon as I heard the pitch, it was clear that it could never, ever work.(I don't mean, "never pass", I mean, "never function"). It's disturbing that RATs and their fellow travelers can discuss these plans as if they ever could be implemented.

Mass psychosis.

The joke is that my leftist friends don’t admit to being Socialists but will vote for all the Socialist Dems straight ticket. Some people simply can’t entertain the notion of voting for a Republican. The Dem ideology of old is too ingrained. Never mind that the Dems of today don’t bear even a passing resemblance to the Dems of yesteryear.

We need to keep getting this information out so we have an informed populace. Hopefully there will be the same outcry as there was against the open borders/amnesty crowd (oops, I meant “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”).

I had a friend years ago that married a Canadian hockey player. They spent the summers in Alberta. She remembered that the local radio stations were frequently urging the parents to come pick up their kids at the clinic. Many people used the clinics as babysitting services.

Been there, done that … kudos for trying. Could you get them to vote for a third party? Would get them out of the way while Adults vote. ;-)

Socialized medicine - A system based on all the compassion of the IRS and delivered with the efficiency of the DMV.

The Sheeple just can't seem to get it through their thick sckulls that Universal "free" health care is NOT free to anyone who has a job. It is far more expensive than the private insurance we pay for now, for a system that offers far less service.

Pills are not paid for by the Canadian health care system, Nor are cruches, braces, or any othr medical equipment you may need following an accident.
Dental care is NOT included in the Canadian universal health care system.
The Canadian universal system is justy a bare bones BASIC health care system. there are many medical procedures no matter if they can save your life or improve the quality of it that are NOT covered by that system.

Sure, there are things wrong with our system, but there are ways of fixing them. A major fix is torte reform, which Democrats are quick to oppose. Anothr fix that would reduce the costs of private health insurance is adopting a stadardized billing system. Currently, administrations costs account for over 20% of health care costs.
