The “lazy” charge is wearing thin.

And all in one sentence. I could not have written it better.

Your post is certainly an incredible indictment of Thompson! Incredible!

The author Rodrick loads his article with typical northeastern liberal cheap shots against GOP southerners.

He could have saved lots of column inches by just stating that in his opinion, Thompson is a slick hick.

I din't know that at 17, ..." he got his sweetheart Sarah Lindsey pregnant and immediately proposed."

Was that the daughter who died?

Wow!! You must be a long-jumper, because that's a heck of a leap!

You may note there is a question mark at the end of the sentence, "Regular CFR-guy, Fred Thompson?"

Considering the pressure put on the GOP by multinational corporations, amoral American corporations, plus the liberal globalists, plus Mexico herself, to knuckle under to the flood of illegals...

Considering the membership's well known, publicized leanings toward the globalist mantra...

Considering the extant administration's under the counter deal-making toward "North American Integration..."

One seeking the support of conservative Americans should explain his choice of memberships. In addition to "talking the talk," increasingly, a politician with a track record must be faced with the matter of the walk he has taken.

Spencer Abraham doesn't seem to be helping, BTW.

After voting for the Bushes twice ("fool me once....") we should be more careful than, "ready, shoot, aim!" when backing a candidate in the GOP primaries.

Unless and until Senator Thompson proves himself more thoroughly, I'm backing Duncan Hunter.

Only if you consider biased propaganda to be "info".

I didn't post it to slam Fred, the article is more in depth than most I've seen on him and brings up some stuff (good and bad) that I hadn't seen mentioned anywhere else

Frankly, as a Tennessean, I believe that you actually saw the real Fred Thompson.

I still am supporting him, as I believe that he may be our best bet.

Huckabee is a great speaker. Too bad that he doesn't get more exposure.

Fred is too lazy to be an active member of the CFR.

And BTW, I thought they were Pro-Israel. You guys need to reconvene at the Bunker and get the story straight.

"You guys?"

That sounds just a bit like the presumption of a conspiracy theorist. My considerations are my own.

Feel free to demonstrate how the CFR has stood against international pressure, about the right of Isreal to be Israel (no ficititous "Palestinian state") and to defend herself thoroughly as such -- also the moral imperative to ally directly and militarily with that nation.

But relax, I'll be doing more profitable things than constantly clicking on "ping," in order to read the documentation.

Even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut, and Thompson has always seemed to have a way of stumbling into success.
I wonder who's worked harder in his life. Fred, or the leftist sycophant (toadying up to his leftist bosses) who penned this slur.

No, the oldest child is a son. I believe he practices law in Nashville now. The daughter was the second child of Thompson’s first marriage.

Interesting (to quote a frequent poster of Fred threads)—this is your first day back at FR since June 22. You came back to post this hit piece?

Great men like Reagan are sui genus (pardon my Latin). We are just learning that intellectually there was a lot more there than anyone guessed. But the secret of his success was not his experience but the fact that he was the man for the times. Back during the Civil War, someone was regretting that Andrew Jackson was not President. Someone else, however, said. “No, not the times for a Jackson but for a Lincoln. “ There was nothing imperious about Lincoln. Someone who met him described him as looking like a New England farmer. He did not impress most as a natural leader of men. But he was the man for the times, who would bend but not break. Reagan made a very different appearance, that of the aging movie star, but he was also made of steel.

Here at Riley’s, it housed a dozen glimmering Saturday night specials. Thompson lovingly nudged his spouse and tilted his noggin toward a coal-black .38 Smith & Wesson and cooed, “Honey, would you like one of those?”
Q: Since when is a .38 Smith & Wesson a "Saturday night special"?

A: Since the author is an idiot.
