I've had this funny feeling that we may actually see another Bear hunt in NJ this year. I have nothing to base this on, just a feeling.
I suppose I should know better... it probably won't happen until a bear snatches someone's kid out of a stroller someplace, and by my math, that should still be about 3 years or so away.

I live next to Trenton, and would love to be at the hearing. The black bear problem has gotten WAY out of hand. Even Governor Jimmy, the Truck Stop Twink, supported a bear hunt.

We need to bring the bear population down. Too many of them around my community in northern Morris County.

We’re here! We’re queer! We don’t want any more bears!
To: Pharmboy
North edge of warren county here. Had 2 bears in the yard in 2 days. Haven’t seen many others myself, but several surrounding neighors are reporting multiple sitings per day.

They’re all the way down in Wayne. We should go back to when we had 50 of them in the whole state. The liberals keep on saying that we are taking away their habitat, that’s not entirely true, we didn’t have a hunt for 30 years and they had plenty of time to reproduce and populate the state.

Well, we moved out from essex county last year. I consider the increased bear population vs the decreased moonbat population a very worthwhile trade-off!

Just create organic waste refuse recycling stations here and there......let the bears eat some garbage for a while, then bang! End of garbage, end of bears....but the Truck Twink won't do anything to lower your taxes by elimination of tons of garbage. Gall bladders of black bears are in high demand in China. Export tariff anyone?
Can the residents of NJ single-handedly balance the trade deficit with China and Japan?
"Prices for bear gall bladders are astronomically high in some countries in Japan, gall bladders can sell for $1500 to $4000 each."

guess its time for me to stop complaining about our little deer eating our plants That, or if you were a tree hugger, you could volunteer to adopt several bears as a natural deterent to the deer.

I work in Parsippany and last year we had a juvenile (about 150 pounds) in the parking lot. They darted him and took him away. Last November I made a right turn out of my driveway and faced a huge male (I would say about 400 pounds) crossing the road. I looked up the record in NJ, and it was 680 pounds...

Every day this summer they are either nosing about through the yard or knocking over my bear can. They got it open once.
Since the S in Shoot, Shovel, Shutup is out, I’m unsure what recourse I have.

Forget Wayne, they're showing up in Irvington/Newark now, coming down from South Mountain. Needless to say, they are spotted even more frequently in Livingston and West Orange, which immediately border the reservation.
I understand they are spotted from time to time in Mercer County, though they are still rare down here. Lots more foxes, beaver, pheasants, deer and coyotes (saw one while walking the D&R Canal trail a few weeks back).

Didn't know about Newark; knew they were in North Caldwell because one made an appearance on The Sopranos a few seasons ago...

If you are confronted by a 400lb Black Bear in Newark you stand a lot better chance than if confronted by certain members of the local populace. As a Newark Police Officer once told me “Don’t be here when the sun goes down”.

Hmmmmmmguess its time for me to stop complaining about our little deer eating our plantsLOL! Yea, but wait until the cougars/mountain lions come back to feast on those little deer. Then you'll be laughing with a high powered weapon in your hands. I'm sure you could find a nice place for a cat skin rug.

Oh I just know my neighbors would love to watch me popping off cougars and mountain bear from my front deck--LOL!.. Never mind that it's against the law to shoot a firearm in the city limits.
I haven't heard about anything else but wolves and coyotes being around here--but who knows?

I hike/mountain bike in Northern Passaic and east Sussex county. Since Memorial Day I’ve seen 7 bears and spotted/smelled bear scat at least 20 times. There’s a pretty good chance I’ll be that casualty that snaps people into action, lol
My prediction, first child will be snatched in the area to the west of Greenwood Lake in West Milford and east of Vernon Valley in Sussex county. The bear population there has reached unbelievably high density, to the point where you can see multiple sows in a 3 square mile area on any given sunny day.
