Apparently, JimRob doesn't agree. Republican libertarians are a vital part of our party. They have been ever since the Fifties when William F. Buckley and Barry Goldwater created the conservative movement, both known for their libertarian positions.

“Republican libertarians are a vital part of our party. “
There’s a split coming. The “pure” libertarians are incrasingly persona-non-grata for the social positions (legalize drugs? Insanity). Usually, “republican libertarians” were nothing of the sort. They were libertarian on economics, and conservative on social issues. “Real” Libertarians think there should be no restrictions, legal or otherwise, on any kind of social behavior. Drugs, prostitution, you name it. Ideological libertarians are in favor of it all. In many ways, I can’t see the difference between a Libertarian and a Democrat on social issues. You simply are not a real Republican unless you’re a conservative, and conservatives don’t believe in things like the smutification of society and legalizing drugs
Furthermore, once upon a time (before he got old and found out his grandkids were homosexual), Goldwater used to espouse social conservatism too, and Buckley always has.
