Republicans 2008: Giuliani 26%, F. Thompson 25% (July 31)

Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The national race for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in the United States remains closely contested, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 26 per cent of respondents would vote for former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani in a 2008 primary, while 25 per cent would back actor and former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is third with 12 per cent, followed by Arizona senator John McCain with 10 per cent. Support is lower for former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.

On Jul. 28, Romney discussed his views on free trade, saying, "We’d like to see more agreements, not fewer, to improve the economic well-being of our neighbourhood. (...) Surely the next American president would want to reach out to our friends around the world, particular here in our own hemisphere."

In American elections, candidates require 270 votes in the Electoral College to win the White House. In November 2004, Republican George W. Bush earned a second term after securing 286 electoral votes from 31 states. Democratic nominee John Kerry received 252 electoral votes from 19 states and the District of Columbia.

Bush is ineligible for a third term in office. The next presidential election is scheduled for November 2008.

Hey, good idea...

Like this:

“You simple minded Fredbots are too stupid to realize that his only “leadership experience” was on a movie screen. Idiots!"

“But he was a Senator, successful attorney and prosecutor!”

“So what! facts mean nothing, he is a CFR member bent on personally building a 46 lane highway from Mexico to Walnut Grove Minnesota...”

“Dude that was Little House on the Prairie, you are the one confusing TV shows...”

“Shut up, you necon jerk!”

Que buzzing of black helicopters

and expose the weaknesses and deceits within.

Hey, I see enough of that from you Hunterites, who can't seem to build your candidate up without having to tear others down.

Sooner or later it's gonna hit you folks that you've backed a losing horse.

Who exactly did I tear down? I simply responded to your flippant post and failed attempt at wit. If anyone was disparaging a decent, conservative candidate, that would have been you and not me. The quote you picked from my post, “and expose weaknesses and deceits within” was obviously in regard to polls and it shouldn’t require any real nuances in reading comprehension to reach that conclusion. What I responded to was your flighty remark and simply pointed out the superficiality of polls. Your projection is showing and I am yet to see a cogent rebuttal of my post, just some paranoid fantasy that I somehow was “tearing down Fred”.

You responded with a lot of gnashing of teeth, and little substance.

Whether you like polls or not, discount this one or that one and so forth, your horse ain't cracking five percent.

I wasn’t gnashing teeth, I simply pointed out the idiocy of polls and opened them up for a more thorough evaluation. I don’t discount this and that one and so forth, make no mistake, I discount them all. The substance was there, you just chose to ignore it. I asked several questions about polls that would go directly to their credibility and usefulness. To date, not one has been answered.

I recently observed one of these Rudi supporters in their native habitat.

You wouldn’t be discounting them if your less than 1% man was doing better in them.

That’s a fabrication, I deal in facts. All you have is mythical numbers. My position on polls is the same, regardless. I have my way of choosing as do you. In the end I suppose it won’t matter as long as you “think” you chose for yourself. Good luck, the status quo is outstanding, so I am sure you will be more than content with more of the same.

I deal in facts

Then feel free to start.

You may deal in "facts", but reality is something you obviously haven't gotten a grasp on yet.

If you had, you'd dump that no-name loser you're rooting for now and support a winner.
