Towards the end he got sent to Camp Perry OH, to learn how to cook hot chow on the assault beaches and take the mess trucks/gear/food ashore. If Operaion Olympia had gone forward he was supposed along with all the other guys at Camp Perry with him to be a part of the invasion of the Japanese Home Island.

I dont know where camp Perry is.
I have been to the Perry monument on Presque Isle and am very familiar with Perry's Campaigns on Lake Erie.
