I do not agree with every opinion voiced by Mr. O’Reilly, however, he has hit the nail on the head more than enough times to earn my respect. IMHO, if someone starts to think that my “home” harbors and/or encourages hatred and far-right-wing group-think, I’d sure want to re-evaluate my home to learn why someone would have come to that conclusion.

As for the roasting of Bill O’Reilly on this thread, perhaps some folks could step back from the group-rage and make a checklist of all the issues that we should be applauding Mr. O’Reilly for being outspoken on.

I doubt that the majority of comments on this thread will convince calm and rational people that FR is not as Lanny Davis described. That is a shame. This would have been a perfect opportunity for “FReepers” to show their best side, not their worst.

Jessica’s Law (God love you, BOR, for fighting for this)

Bill O’Reilly supports our troops, their mission, and the WOT.
He is often extremely critical of the far-left, Hillary, Pelosi, et al.

There is plenty of information on the internet regarding Mr. O’Reilly’s views on a wide array of topics. For starters, one can check out some historical BOR moments posted at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Bill_O’Reilly

In my opinion, Mr. O’Reilly deserves more than a bit of praise along with some criticism. Don’t we all?

In the last couple of months while surfing the channels I noted O'Reilly had jumped on the bandwagon of dissing the war in Iraq and talking about withdrawal of the troops.

That's not a supporter; that's a cut and run with the crowd kind of guy.

Thoughtful post, Chena. I don’t agree with O’Reilly on everything, but he and FOX have been a godsend at a time when the left has been hell-bent on destroying this country. What happened last night is more indicative of O’Reilly’s lack of experience with the Internet than anything else.

Someone mentioned that Sean Hannity said something about conservatives “eating their own.” O’Reilly is not a conservative, but he does respect the traditional values that most of us cherish.

When he talks about “hate sites,” he is not only referring to the vicious hate-mongering of the left vs the whacked-out white supremacists, he is also referring to the casual, me-first attitude that has allowed the traditional use of respectful language to deteriorate.

I’m on his side in that fight.

NO WITHOUT CONSIDERING THE SOURCE

Here are the fundamentals of Liberalism:

I
Thou shalt create an illusion of invulnerability shared by most members to foster excessive optimism and encourage extreme risks taking

II
Thou shall not allow any member to question the group's inherent morality, instead members shall be encouraged to ignore the ethical or moral consequences of their decisions

III
Thou shalt promote collective efforts to rationalize in order to discount warnings, or other information that might lead members to reconsider their assumptions before they recommit themselves to their assumptions

IV
Thou shalt reinforce stereotyped views of enemy leaders as too evil to warrant genuine attempts to negotiate, or as too weak and stupid to counter whatever risky attempts are made to defeat their purpose

V
Thou shalt self-censor any deviation from the apparent group consensus, inclining each member to minimize the importance of their doubts and counterarguments

VI
Thou shalt create and maintain a shared illusion of unanimity concerning judgement conforming to the majority view

VII
Thou shalt apply direct pressure on any member who expresses strong arguments against any of the group's stereotypes, illusions, or commitments, making clear that this type of dissent is contrary to what is expected of all loyal members

VIII
Thou shalt appoint mindguards to protect the group from adverse information that might shatter their shared complacency about the effectiveness and morality of their decisions

As standard operating procedure, liberals "shame" conservatives in all that they do, knowing there will be a certain percentage who will fall into the trap and begin reevaluating themselves ad neauseum.

If the opinion comes from a known conservative source and is backed up by "subjective" data, then I will consider it before reaffirming my assumptions.

This is all predicated on the fact that I have fully vetted ever issue to my satisfaction already. That's where I am, who I am and in no way am I going to allow anyone to alter my approach or opinion unless is makes logical sense backed up with fact.

Go ahead and "look inside" everytime someone tells you there is something wrong with you. Seems like a complete waste of time to me.

Best Regards,
