Ron Paul is starting to show some serious numbers in these events, 18% is very high... Congrats to Thompson as well for coming out first in this poll! My guy overall Romney also fairly respectable considering he just started campaigning in south carolina. Hunter moving up too.

It just shows this is a long race, and people should be careful when they say ‘x’ candidate can’t win.

What these little straw polls show is name recognition, the intensity of support for candidates, a hint of their prospects at recruiting and building a local grassroots effort. But not a lot more than that.

I thought the straw poll hints that Fred has a strong potential base, that Ron Paul has dedicated supporters in some number, that Romney isn't as weak in SC as the media says, that Giuliani is weaker than expected in almost every real poll not controlled by the libmedia's pollsters, etc.

When you compare FR as it is today to the way it was in the pre-Bush era, it's striking to see how many people believe the liberal media's pollsters are trustworthy, how few mention how easy it is to manipulate polls if you have an agenda.

So I like this poll not just because the top three candidates are my own picks but because they have real Republicans voting in them. Not a bunch of handpicked people that the libmedia pollsters can use to produce almost any desired poll results.
