Our primary family worship service is called sacrament meeting. This meeting is held in our meetinghouses on Sunday and lasts approximately 70 minutes. Visitors are welcome to attend. It is common for families to attend, and we are accustomed to having children as part of the congregation.
A typical meeting would consist of the following:
Hymns: Religious songs sung by the congregation (hymn books are provided).
Prayers: Offered by local Church members.
Partaking of the Sacrament (Communion): The sacrament is passed to members of the congregation.
Speakers: Typically a meeting will have two or three assigned speakers.
We do not pass a plate to request donations as part of our worship services.
Additional Meetings
Visitors are also welcome to attend other Sunday meetings that precede or follow sacrament meeting: Sunday School classes are offered for each age-group, beginning with twelve year olds. Primary meetings consist of a group service and age-oriented classes for children three through eleven years of age. A nursery is available for young children, ages eighteen months to three years. Young Women meetings provide classes for those twelve through seventeen years of age. Relief Society meeting is for women, ages eighteen years and older. Priesthood meetings provide age-oriented classes for males twelve years and older. Sacrament meetings and other meetings may be conducted in differing sequences, depending on the preference of local leaders. This site displays the beginning time of the three-hour block of meetings and the starting time of sacrament meeting.
Appropriate Dress
Those who attend will most likely be wearing their "Sunday best," which may include suits, sport coats, and ties for the men and dresses or skirts for the women. Children also typically dress up for Sunday.
Helpful Information
Our local congregations are called wards (or branches). The spiritual leader of each ward is called the bishop (or the branch president for branches). He is a member of the congregation who has been asked to serve as a volunteer in this position. Because we have a lay ministry rather than paid clergy, all Church service is voluntary.
I don’t know about the FOTFL (falling on the floor laughing), but I’ll agree with the fact that you lost your head (MHO).
Kinderhook Plates, Egyptian papyri (source of the Book of Abraham), Joseph Smith being convicted of “glass-looking” and “money digging”......it’s all out there. He was a charlatan looking for his importance in life and when his book scam took off he ran with it like the wind. There is no factual basis to the BOM, not Biblical, not archealogical, nor anything else. But, if your bosom burns, you just go for it, Girl.
It should have been #156. I’m having a hard time typing in this darkened room, and I don’t type numbers well in general.
Shhhh........My grandson is sleeping.
Perhaps that is because it was a secret. /sarcasm
Counsel from Jesus
Matt. 7:
6 ¶ Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
3 Ne. 14:
6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
Matt.
OK, so the KJ version of the Bible and the BOM have exactly the same statements. Hmmm, they were written by different people, on different continents, at different periods in time, yet they each got it exactly the same.
Boy, Ole’ Joe was the luckiest guy on the planet when Moroni visited him in his bedroom floating above the floor (but, hmm, wait a minute, I thought Ole’ Joe shared his bedroom with his many brothers, but hey, that’s just one of those devil details in the story, eh?).
Its been years since I can mobile as I like to Church so if I make it 20 times a year in a sporadic fashion.
I must be brainwashing myself!
You know all that one on one with the Lord!:)
Nah, you can bash Methodists.
He would have a conniption fit at what his apostate grandson Steve Benson has to say at

Of, c’mon Greyfoxx, you know that site is just all a bunch of lies. Stevy boy prolly lost that “burning in his bosom”, or maybe he just had a tablespoon of Pepto-Bismol.
We are unworthy of your secret doctrines? Is that because freepers are dogs, or is it because we are swine?
It appears that Joseph Smth copied Matthew 7:6 almost word for word into 3 Nephi 14:6?
Why do you think that is?
Do you think Jesus was talking about secret rites that he was participating in at the time?
The meaning is pretty simple to figure out; “Do not persist in offering what is sacred or of value to those who have no appreciation for it, because your gift will not only become contaminated and be despised, your generous efforts could also be rebuffed and perhaps even openly attacked.”
With that note, I will no longer be conversing with you restornu, you refuse the word of God. I shake the dust from my feet.
Good bye!
I am pretty sure thats what I said. I am not supporting Mitt because of his POLITICAL positions (decades of records).
I think thats what you said also. Correct?
Welcome to the fray, LOL...where you been? We do this all the time ;) We are the “Flying Inman Posse”!
I’ve been lurking for awhile and stumbled upon this thread. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence and the ability to research plain facts will resoundingly conclude the BOM is a scam, PERIOD.
But, in this alternate universe at FR, researching plain facts and making logical conclusions will get you called just about everything except Sir! or Madam, as the case may be and especially liar. You see, our facts are the WRONG facts, even when quoted directly from mormon scriptures.
I must be brainwashing myself!
Aren't the priests making it to your home so you can take the sacrament? If you'd like I can call them. I'm sure you get BYU TV, radio, and I know you get your monthly copy of the Ensign.
You have Relief Society visiting teachers, and (what are they called now?) Home teachers? from the priesthood, at least once a month from each. You DO get the Ward newsletter don't you? If not, we really need to get on your Ward members....they just aren't working hard enough or doing enough. How do they keep their Temple Recommends?
I think if you call the 800 number listed on the "Mormon" commercial they'll rush a copy of the Book of Mormon right out to your house, but I'm sre you have a "quad" to study regularly. Am I right?

Have you asked the Bishop to find someone in the ward that would pick you up and take you home? In my church that is standard practice, along with weekly delivery of communion by the church elders...they will especially ask if the member needs anything at all.
Arent’ there masonic symbols sewed into the Magical Mystery Mormon Undies, as well? I recall a college room mate telling me about her “garments” having secret symbols sewn in over the heart and one knee, or some such nonsense...
I have keep all my covenants even though I have health issues!
I am doing much better and have gotten to the temple few times in the pass year but I don’t want to impose on others to help.
I must say in the past few months it has been easier for me things are starting to improve.
