“Man Up”? What a load of hooey!

Phoenix police Chief Jack Harris also said Friday that Jones could face additional charges related to the deaths of the four television journalists who died in the helicopter crash.
I don't know, that's quite a stretch if you ask me. It's one thing to charge him for the death of officers killed in a pursuit but these choppers weren't involved beyond watching.

Depends on how Arizona’s Felony Murder statute is written, if it has one.

Bad piloting is not this man's fault.

The investigators will also interview friends and family of the four victims to reconstruct the events of their final days. Why? Do the investigators suspect a conspiracy to collide the helicopters and kill themselves at this particular spatio-temporal juncture?

I’m confused. He’s “taking responsibility” by claiming he doesn’t remember anything that happened?

It’s not a stretch, it’s outright ridiculous and absurd. The choppers belong to a privately owned corporation out to profit from the event. People always want someone to blame for a mishap for their own comfort. Accept it, sh** happens, even when no one is responsible for it.

The concept of "felony murder" always brings-up a ton of questions when I mention it, so I'll leave for the evening with a short discussion of it
here.

By that standard they could charge him with any death for any reason along the route of the chase. Sure hope he didn’t pass a hospital or nursing home along the way.

Maybe they should think about a way to limit the freak-show news-copter pursuits?? Anyone?

Heck, just see if any other events like rapes or robberies were being committed at the same time, and add those too!

pilot error on one or both pilots. jones had nothing to do with it I read somewhere the choppers were flying close but within limits, and there was a sudden gust of wind that blew one onto the other. These were light choppers after all. It's pretty windy this time of the year here in Phoenix.
To: radar101
whats to stop him from blacking out and subsequently taking flight?

I won't flame. A person comitting a felony and knows it, is responsible for the damage that ensues. The media is not a part of that in my eyes. If they choose (the media) to go after a criminal during the crime, it is of their own volition.
Prayers to the families of those left to soon.
