The NYT in typical fashion.........

I support Thompson but I sure wish he would have kept the Bush people at arms length.

Erick over at
Redstate has a great rebuttal to this "sinking campaign" claim of the MSM...
In September 2003, despite facing a front loaded primary season, John Kerry publicly declared his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States. He went on to win the Democratic nomination despite the formidable campaign army and war chest amassed by Howard Dean.
In September 2007, Fred D. Thompson will announce his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States. Right now he's putting his campaign in place, finding the right people, settling on advisors, and raising enough money to float the ship, but not enough to set it sailing in violation of FEC rules.
All of a sudden, September just isn't good enough for the media. The Thompson ship is allegedly sinking in dry dock because he's moving staffers around, some people are leaving, and woe unto us, Thompson is not raising President candidate level money according to unnamed sources who are not connected to the campaign.
It was only a matter of time before the media went after Thompson. Arguably, even without entering the race, he has become the conservative standard bearer. Romney has been unable to gain traction with the Christian right. McCain committed hari kari on the floor of the Senate. And the more people watch YouTube clips of Rudy's NARAL speech, the less people really want to support him.
Go to Redstate to read the rest of Erick's great piece.

Jeri Kehn Thompson. First time I’ve seen her maiden name put in a story. It’s not how she addresses herself, or he, I believe.
NY Times, ok with removing the Rodham from the Clinton at her whim, but decides to interject the maiden hyphen to the conservative woman without her consent.
The Slimes at it’s typical sneaky best.

LOL. I’d forgotten that fact.
But John Kerry was in Vietnam so that might make it different.

Why doesn’t Murdoch buy this company.

It also ignited speculation in Republican circles about who is really in charge, and in particular about the extent of the role being played by Mr. Thompsons wife, Jeri Kehn Thompson, a former political operative. Yeah, very fashionable of the NYT.
They don't have to be proved right in their speculative approach, just fashionable in their conveyance.

In September 2007, Fred D. Thompson will announce his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States.
It was also stated he would announce by the 4th of July. When that date passed it was stated he would announce in late August. Now the latest statement is September. I'll believe it when I see it.

a race in which his rivals have had months to establish their campaign organizations, raise money and hone strategy.
Yep and them months have produced what?..... McCain in a tail spin downward, Guiliani still bouncing around the top in polling but not gaining, Romney still searching for the catalyst to jump to the top and then there are are bunch of -, *, 1, 2, 3%ers. It would be my guess that no campaign that honestly takes it seriously can put a national campaign organization together without some changes being made between the time of exploring to the time of official announcement.
Sounds like the NY papers are backing their senator/mayor as major players.....

Looks like the Left is getting very scared. We will probably see many more “facts” coming out of the communist media about Fred, his wife, and family. I expect soon to hear that Fred’s ancestors owned slaves and ran a factory that made sausages out of little puppies.

I think the general public is so conditioned now to hearing negatives about everything that attacks on Fred will not leave any lasting impressions. jmo
