The word spreading all over Capitol Hill today is that longtime Fox senior congressional producer Jim Mills is leaving his booth on the House side to join the Fred Thompson quasi-campaign as spokesman. NBC has confirmed that Mills will join Thompson's organization effective August 20.
Lot's of "OMG" and even "OMFG" being traded on the e-mail this morning among staffers and press because Mills is something close to a legend on the House side. Known for his pugnacious (yet jocular) style, everyone from Speaker Pelosi to the cashiers down in the basement have gotten a kick out of "Millsy" at one time or another, and in one form or another.
Full disclosure: Over the years, Mills and I have been fierce competitors and close friends. I have known him to be a creative and perceptive individual who never played favorites. Most everyone comes away from an encounter with him with a smile on their face, with some notable exceptions among members -- both Rs and Ds -- who trip his BS alarm. See ya around, Millsy.

Cool beans.
The comments beneath this piece are worth the trip...
He worked for FOX, so the “Fred is Dead” crowd will be saying this PROVES Fred is a liberal!
Much as letters to the editor of newspapers are often more interesting than what the reporters write, online comments often teach more than the original piece.
I can't decide which is my favorite--the one about Fox being so pro-Republican (81% of its corporate contributions going to Democrats), or the one that says that since this guy is a TV producer it shows Fred doesn't know anything about how to present on TV.
I hope “OMFG” isn’t what I think it means and it is coming from Fredheads?
Nothing more repugnant than brazen ignorance laced with insult. I just pray that they’re too young... or too stupid to vote.
It does mean what you think it means. Considering all that's going on in the world, I don't consider swearing a high priority crime, myself.
Read closer. That expression is attributed to members of the press and congressional staffers.
Even so, I am sure that somewhere sometime some FT supporter has uttered something he/she shouldn't have. If Fred only gets votes from people who never swear, I am pretty sure he will lose.

That was not the point it is using the Lord name with vile verb!
They do love their liberal tactics.
LLS
Yada yada yada...
Sounds like a good move to me. He is putting together a team from all over the Republican spectrum, getting the best from all the points of view. That’s what a leader does.
When I read Breathed’s cartoon, I thought of MoDo. Like her, he seems to enjoy spewing venom with an “I do it because I can” attitude.
I’m not a fredhead I’m a fredneck.
;-)
