One rarely talked about issue is that the entire milky way galaxy is moving at great speed constantly. So assuming you could transport back in time to 1950 to the same spot in space you are sitting right now.. You’d be out in the middle of space floating around.

I used to think that way but do not any longer.

That is four dimensional thinking. However the latest and greatest theories of quantum physics say that spacetime has many more dimensions.

It would be interesting to here the professor explain how you would determine where in spacetime you would end up when you step through his time tunnel.

Exactly... it isn’t called Time SPACE for nothin ! You’d need to invent the quantum Computer FIRST just to do that math required to get to the right spot.

The universe has no GPS. There is no absolute way of determining where something is except in relation to where other things are.

Theoretically, if you could travel in time, you would not leave Earth’s gravity well unless you supplied the energy to climb out of that gravity well. There is the whole conservation of momentum thing also, you should stay about where you started relative to the earth, unless traveling by tardis.
