May I suggest a book, "Covert Cadre" by S. Steven Powell, about the IPS.

This from the cover, "...More disturbing, in the case of the IPS, is its radical left nature and Soviet bloc agents participating in so many of its programs, quite often in opposition to American foreign policy.
The penetration of IPS activists-into our Congress, church bureaucracies, the press and the public policy community in Washington-is all but invisible to most Americans. But, as this pathbreaking book demonstrates, IPS has had a significant effect on the recent course of our democracy."

Published in 1987, this book names names in Congress, in religion, etc. It also details the direct influence of the KGB, Cuban, and other communist agents on the IPS. It documents the cooperation and support of the likes of John Kerry, Tom Harkin, John Conyers, Mark Hatfield, Ron Dellums and other U.S. Senators and U.S. Representatives.

The introduction to the book is by David Horowitz, an ex-communist who runs frontpagemag.com

The IPS is a Marxist organization, but its members prefer to be called progressives..............At the most recent Democrat debate on television, Hillary Rodham Clinton labeled herself a "modern progressive".................in today's Democrat circles, progressive means socialist, they don't want to use the word socialist, hence the label "progressive"................

Excellent suggestion.

The importance and meaning of Hillary’s rejection of the term “Liberal” in favor of “Progressive” cannot be over emhasized.
