If it was the case I wouldn’t see why the military would need to take him to Ft. Drum then transfered to Ft. Campbell? I’m sure Ft. Drum has telephone, faxes, computers and e-mail. This guy had to out process at some point to get an honorable which with the amount of process it takes it would be very unlikely that he got listed as a deserter.

That is why I tend to believe the military version of the story and not his. They are going through a lot of work to bring him in, they must truly think he deserted. Be interesting to see how this pans out in a couple of days.

You are correct: if the guy has a valid DD214, he’s clear. I got thrown out of the military and even I have one.

If he doesn’t, he’s a deserter.
