Your “addition” included the phrase “Seems to me ...” I took that to mean that your were applying the quote to me, and that in doing so you were casting a judgment. In fact, I’m not sure you can really argue otherwise and be honest.

Excuse me? My statement was " Seems to me that that would include anything that's helpless, child or animal." The quote spoke only of a pet dog. I enlarged on that. Read it again.

"Because chimpanzees are so closely related to us and because they therefore host diseases and parasites which specialize in large primates like chimps and humans, this is a spectacularly bad idea."

What's even grosser is that people in africa will eat "found" dead gorillas and monkeys. No telling how long they've been there or what disease they had. Supposedly this is how HIV was started. Someone found a delicious dead green monkey rotting in the jungle and had him some supper.

Yes. If you don’t care about the poaching death of four endangered apes, why should you care about the poaching death of eight? Or eight hundred? And if no one cared, then nothing would be done and the endangered apes would be extinct. Most of us thinks that's not good. As another poster asked, would you really prefer a world with no animals at all?

Why would you take that? I try to think about the ramifications of my actions as if everyone did them. For example, one person tossing a cigarette butt out the window might not be a big deal, but thousands of drivers tossing them all day long leads to a littered, ugly highway.

Thinking things through is good. You might try it sometime.

I wish people would quit monkeying around with gorillas.

So when there are no more animals on the planet, only people, you will be happy?

I didn't know they'd moved the date up. When exactly are there going to be no more animals on the planet?

I don’t get it either. Nor do I understand the people who post here and make jokes about it.

The only thing worse than someone that doesn't value animal life is someone with no sense of humor.

Are the deaths of the three in the recent CT murders worse than a child from AIDS in Africa?

See how ridiculous your question is?

Well said.

Many posters here hit “Submit” before thinking, and thisis all to evident from their words.

Re: Are you saying one day it will turn into a human?

Do you mean like the thousands currently on Death Row?

Or a Hitler/Stalin/Mao type?

Or how about the thousands of suicide bombers?

You hold too high an opinion of mankind and much too low an opinion of animals.

My guess is that you are not a pet owner and have never seen the true intelligence of animals. Not to mention the fact that many of these so-called beasts show more humanity than many humans.

Animals know no malice, nor greed.

In many ways they are superior to man. Perhaps you should get used to this.

Thinking things through is good.

Agreed. But thinking things through does not equate to arguing at the extremes. Not every action begets an absolute. Killing four apes does not equate to killing EVERY ape, or, even more absurdly, every animal! And THAT is why I don't care, not because I celebrate the senseless slaughter of four apes, but because I think that that's where it will stop.

You need to stop overreacting to every situation that scares you by taking it to an extreme and then finding a "solution" for that extreme.

If you would have read all my posts on this thread and read my tag line you would have learned that all that I said was sarcasm. It was meant to be ridiculous.

Animals know no malice, nor greed.

Nor compassion nor love, as much as you'd like to believe they do.

In many ways they are superior to man.

Only if you see Man reduced to his feral state.

Perhaps you should get used to this.

If you are that anthromorphic toward animals and that misanthropic toward human beings, perhaps you should seek professional help.

so ‘splain me...

why is it ok to eat chicken, or cows. or baby lambs, deer, and not chimpanzee?

oh...that’s right...I forgot...chimpanzees are our ansestors! Kinda like our great great uncles...and to eat them, why thats...thats...downright disgusting...and damned near cannabilism!

and...according to the evolutionsist “theory” we all evolved from fish too...so no tuna either.

As a matter of fact, since we all evolved from the same primordial ooooze...no ooooze for dinenr either...and nothing to eat that evolved from the oooze either. no rice, grains, leafy plants, and no fruit becuas eit contains seeds and thats..well..what an outrage, thats like eating unborn baby fruits...the HORROR!

Rocks.
Tonight’s main entree’ is rocks.
just so nobody gets offended.

...and can refer you a great dentist after dinner.

I don’t eat any of them.

Can rice or grains think and feel pain?

I can see that acumen is not your leading characteristic.
