You just move the left lever under the steering wheel up to retard the...Well, no. They don't have those on the later model cars. That wouldn't work anyway since there isn't a spark to retard. Good question but I can't answer it.
Probably all based on when the fuel injection fires off. That can be controlled by computer maps.
